2012_02_13-mchin01.jpgIf you are keen on asking someone to be your Valentine, but haven't gotten around to procuring a card? Then this handy DIY could be the perfect project for you! Turn a leftover wine cork or two into stamps for a one-of-a-kind card, perfect for your sweetheart.

2012_02_10-mchin.jpgA friend of mine "pinned" the above image on Pinterest and I instantly fell in love with the idea. So, I tracked down a tutorial on how to make them...which basically involves old maps (or books or any paper that has otherwise outlived its original useful life).

2012_02_08-mchin.jpgWhile I was at work on Tuesday, I spied this amazing little package sitting on a colleague's desk. It was left for her son, Nico, from the mother of one of his daycare playmates. It's so simple, yet totally eye-catching (it caught my eye, anyway).

2011_02_05-mchin01.jpgSince so many of us are faced with small living spaces, but still want to be able to entertain, craft, or any other number of things you find yourself needing to do on a flat surface in the course of life, this table could be for you!

Finn-Juhl-House-11.jpg
Finn Juhl (30 January 1912 - 17 May 1989) was one of the founders of the Danish design movement and introduced "Danish Modern" to the United States. His 2,200 square foot home has been preserved and contains his collection of furnishings and art, all acquired over his lifetime. The striking thing about this home is that, though it is clearly a testament to the modern aesthetic, it feels entirely liveable and warm.

12_01_30-mchin01.jpgWith so many hours spent indoors during the winter months, many of us turn our attention to our list of craft projects. Of course the thought of a nice, new, handmade, cozy scarf or hat is incredibly enticing. If you don't have a basket to keep your yarn organized and tidy, this project is for you!

2012_01_25-mchin01.jpgI have a lot of blank space on my walls where art should be, which leads me to searching the web to see what others have done. I came across this DIY monogram wall art project and, believe it or not, it was done for less than a dollar!

2012_01_23-mchin01.jpgI know I'm not the only one who loves Hudson's Bay point blankets, which were traded in Canada and the United States in the 18th and 19th centuries. The fresh, bright stripes on minimalist solid backgrounds made of wool and perfect for this time of year. So, when I came across this tutorial for a crib blanket inspired by these iconic blankets, I had to share it.

While visiting Portland, Oregon last week, I made one last stop on my way to the airport to visit some good friends. To my surprise, under a blue tarp in their driveway, was this wonderful 1971 camping trailer that they have been refurbishing.

2012_01_16-mchin01.jpgChinese New Year begins on January 23 and brings us the Year of the Dragon. So it's perfect that I came across this terrific recycled dragon sculpture. Look closely and you'll see that it's made out of plastic forks, spoons, knives and cups!
