We've been looking into the best dogs for small spaces. We talked to a Greyhound Rescue organization and were surprised to hear that greyhounds make great apartment dogs. According to Greyhounds Only, they sleep A LOT and only need a little corner of your space to claim as their own (although they still require regular exercise and walks, of course).

We know a lot of you have canine friends that live with you in small spaces. So, we're wondering: out of all the different breeds out there, which ones are best suited for apartment living?

You don't have to own a condo or a house to make your home yours. Rentals can be challenging (unattractive flooring, standard white walls, outdated light fixtures) but there are plenty of ways to work around the problem and tailor your apartment to your own tastes.

The hardest thing about setting up a studio apartment is figuring out the right layout. With so little available space, every decision makes a huge impact. We're always amazed at the space planning ideas we see in Apartment Therapy's annual "Small Cool" contest, so we're looking at the apartments of five previous contestants for inspiration…

We're kicking off travel month on Apartment Therapy with a mega-roundup of 40 neighborhood and city shopping guides. If you're traveling to any of the places on our list this summer, you'll definitely want to check out these must-see stores.

Designed to be used by sailors, the canvas bags at UK company Mariners Supply are made with built-in pockets, rope handles, and brass eyelets. Sturdy and practical, they work really well as market bags or garden totes.

When Sara Sugarman and Zak Profera met in the seventh grade, they probably didn't expect to be collaborating on a high-end rug collection years later. As high-schoolers, they snuck into bars together, but as grown-ups, they've found a different kind of bond — one based on a shared appreciation for design and craftsmanship. Over the past year, they've worked together on a new collection for Sara's family business, Decorative Carpets.

Plus, the New York Times shops with designers Jayne and Joan Michaels for new summer house furnishings, Design Observer reports on New Orleans East's struggles to recover, and a member of the UK Parliament coins a new term: "Scandinavian eco-bling." Studio Gorm is a young design firm, but their work has been on our radar for a while. We caught their new work this spring at ICFF, and it's right in line with the back-to-basics philosophy that defines many of their projects. Simple but highly thoughtful, their designs combine the elegant functionalism of Shaker style with materials and forms that are 100 percent contemporary.
