Have you gotten your pumpkin yet? If not you still have time, and this is the perfect weekend to delve into your pumpkin decorating. I've gathered some quick and easy modern painting techniques to help get you inspired after the jump...
Now I am all for getting down and dirty with some pumpkin carving around this time of the season, but I also like a few faster, cleaner options to have handy.
There are so many ways to decorate pumpkins these days that don't involve a big mess, sharp tools and a pile of gooey guts. And when you are going for quantity you sometimes need a few more tricks in your bag. Here are some fun, modern ideas that simply involve a brush, paint, stencils, tape and of course the main star, a pumpkin. Now go get your brush and let the painting begin!

2. Pop painted pumpkins via Readymade.
3. DIY black and white creepy crawler pumpkins via Country Living.
4. Simply stenciled pumpkins via Ladies Home Journal.

Nomade Express Slee...
Interesting. If I ever decorate a pumkin I'll do a silhouette one.
The fourth photo is great. Who knew a pumpkin could be so lovely.
Okay, let me be the first to say, where's your spirit, America??? "...big mess, sharp tools and a pile of gooey guts..." Isn't that what it's all about? I'm in the carve 'em up camp. I guess I just don't get the whole painted thing.
Ever since I sliced my hand open carving a pumpkin 2 years ago, I am all about painting! Sharp tools + goo= injury! I love these.
Gooey guts = delicious baked pumpkin seeds
the readymade link isn't working
off topic, but my favorite is the stick pumpkin in pic 1
I have a toddler so opted for painting this year (dispite my love of knives and gooey guts), however I still want my seeds and anything else yummy they have to offer, so I bought us pie pumpkins and plan on using non-toxic washable paint. After halloween I'll wash them, roast them and bake some pies!!!!!
Link #1 still broken
The order is all screwed up, too. The cameo style pumpkin goes with link #3. I'm looking for the fourth picture, guess I just have to click all the links...
K, found it, picture #4 goes with LHJ (#2).
Thanks and sorry for confusion, just fixed the link order.
I'm gonna be a horrible person and berate you for sucking all the fun out of this. Sorry. :s
Couple years ago for our Halloween party, everything on our spread just kinda happened to be black and goth-y and macabre looking. So we painted a couple pumpkins black (stem and all) and I mixed up some fake blood with corn syrup and red food dye, and stabbed the black pumpkins and made the "wound" bleed. It was a hit that was perfectly in keeping with the slightly glam and creepy tone of the rest of our decor.
Oh, and left the knife sticking out of the wound. (No kids at this party to grab the knives and wield them unsafely, haha.)
