Name: Baby Iggy (due Sept. 2012)
Location: Essex Junction, VT
Our theme was inspired by the vintage sci-fi prints given to us by my mother that you see hanging on the wall.
The large mural is a vinyl decal we ordered online. The aptly named "womb chair" is a designer knock-off, since we couldn't well afford for a $4,000 original to get covered in baby barf.
The book slings, curtain, and mobile were all made by myself, and my husband and I refinished the dresser together as well. One of my favorite details is how the pattern on the book sling/curtain material mimics the Sputnik-esque shape of the chandelier.
Thanks Lillie and Chris!

what a fun room! where did you get the sputnik light?

Very nice..like alot. Your lighting is cool but man, how long will it take to clean the dust off of it?
I really like your book slings..nice job.
So awesome. I love vintage scifi stuff. I recommend some books on space, too. Start him early!
I just have to ask about your baby's name - is it short for something, or are you just going with Iggy? I think it's so cute!
The light fixture is perfect for this room!
Where did those awesome plush robot and spaceship come from?
This is super adorable. Baby tastes are unpredictable (I decorated my son's room with a nautical theme but he turned out to be a train fanatic). This room is great because it will be easy to change out the accessories according to Iggy's future obsessions.
Thanks all! The light fixture came from zgallerie.com and the plush robot and spaceship were zulily.com finds. Iggy will just be his nickname -- his middle name is going to be Ignatius -- but it's already sticking with all our family members. :)
I don't know...with a spacey room like that you may want to consider the name Ziggy instead! (can you tell I'm a huge David Bowie fan?) Awesome room by the way!
Cute room! Love the name Ignatius. Suggestion: flip the dresser and you have a changing table until he out grows it and then flip back to regular dresser when he's a toddler. Not my original idea, saw it at a friends house.
Super cute!!!! Great job.
love this room! iggy is so lucky!
Awesome! I wish I had that room as a child!
I recommend the book "That's Not My Robot." It's an awesome texture book that my sons loved.
Had to comment, Our little boy was born on the 1st of june 2012. We named him Juan Ignacio, with every intent of his every day name being Iggy. Maybe we should have warmed up the family like you guys obviously did, but they're used to it now!
