Eleanor Jane (due July 2012, any day now!)
My husband Nick and I are expecting our first baby and I have loved every minute of the preparation especially designing, crafting, and putting together the nursery. And it's finally finished!!! I'm so excited to share the pictures I could just squeal! (But I don't want to startle the bebe in my belly.) So, welcome to Baby Eleanor's Little Nest…
The changing table was actually a piece of furniture that I've had forever. I got it from T.J. Maxx. The botanical prints above it were a surprise gift from my mom. Nick and I both LOVED them and kind of themed the whole room around them.
The green and white striped throw was crocheted by my Mamaw just for Eleanor. I picked out the yarn and mailed it to her and voila! It's so thick and soft. I love it so much!
The bird's nest mobile was inspired on a whim when I saw a bag of moss and a bird at Michael's one day. I spent a stupid amount of money on all these individual nesty items and then spent a stupid amount of time trying to put it all together and it just wasn't matching the idea I had in my head. When my mom came to visit I handed the whole mess over to her. She took it completely apart and turned it into this beautiful little nesty mobile that I love!
The center-piece of the room is the quilt that my mom made. On a whim, I had an idea for a quilt with a mountain scene and a sunshine. I explained the idea to my mom and bought some fabric. And she made it with her two hands, a sewing machine, and some advice from ladies at a quilt shop. I LOVE it and I know Eleanor will treasure it forever.
The branch curtain rods were made by moi! Our neighbor gave us some branches from a red bud tree. I painted them white and tied some twine into my pretty little curtains from Target.
The crib is from Babies R Us. The jute rug is from Target.
The window/shutter wall hanging is unfinished. I plan to put baby photos in the panes once I have a baby to take pictures of. The shelves on the left of the fire place were not originally there. Hubby had those built and he stained them to perfectly match the fire place and trim in the room. Eventually we might add another set on the right side.
Some of my favorite details in the room include a bowl (made by me) that was used as a serving bowl at our wedding (perfect for Eleanor's hair bows.) It sits on her baby book which I also made. The shoes displayed on the mantle were worn by baby Nicky (aka Daddy) many, many years ago. And a little quilted wall hanging of a tree of life made by my mom. The tree of life was a theme from our wedding. She tied in the fabric from the big quilt and also fabric that was used as table runners at our wedding. I LOVE little sentimental details like that.
Her name hanging was made by me and my mom helped a lot. The branch is the same as the curtain rods. The rest of the supplies came from Michaels. I glued mossy stuff onto wooden letters and then just attached all the other little stuff. It seems easier than it actually was. After several hot glue injuries and trouble getting the letters to hang straight, we finally finished it. And I love it so much!
