We tend to favor practical baby gifts, so fancy rattles aren't typically on our radar. This one by Nambé is a standout for its beautiful design, reasonable price tag and safe materials.
Designed by Sean O'Hara for Nambé, the rattle's fluid form is exactly what one would expect of a teething toy from the iconic New Mexico-based company. The durable 18/8 stainless steel is freezer safe, and most importantly, it is safe to go in baby's mouth. At $30, it's a little affordable luxury that can deliver some comfort and fun. Available from Nambé.

Steel as a teething toy?? Ouch!
actually, silver rattles and teethers are very traditional. i have one from my babyhood and my mother always gave tiffany silver teether/rattles as baby gifts.
this one is lovely!
.... My initial reaction, when I saw the photo, was "why is OhDeeDoh featuring a bedpan?"
I thought it was a really, really, cold potty-seat.
With my son, I have a policy of not giving him things that can potentially cause a concussion when hurled at my head. I can see how the cool steel would be pleasant for a teething baby, but probably best if you have one of those delicate flower type kids, not the adorable-force-of-destruction type.
Good design. Good material. Much safer than plastic.
