The other night I found a Land of Nod catalog in my mailbox, and the cover art intrigued me. Although I am childless, I started to look through and realized just how much of that stuff I'd like for my 20-something self.
The catalog got me thinking about other times I've found something good from a kid or teen store that adults might overlook. Here are a few of my favorite made-for-kids-but-great-for-adults-too things.
TOP ROW
1. Animales Grafico bedding from Land of Nod, $16-$139
2. Serena body pillow cover from PB Teen, $49
3. Travelers' Kilim Rug from PB Teen, $99-$399
4. Squares to Spare lamp base and lamp shade from Land of Nod, $115.95
5. Head in the Clouds pillow from Land of Nod, $19
BOTTOM ROW
6. Ramona bedding from Serena & Lily, $68-$180
7. Jute stripe rug from PB Teen, $79-$429
8. Sarasota schiaparelli blanket from Designers Guild, $200
9. Lazy Susan from Pottery Barn Kids, $35

Those lazy susans would be perfect for desk supplies!
I have no little kids, but I always admire the Serena &Lily catalog. Never would think to crack open PBS Kids, but those lazy susans are a great find. And I love the Animales bedding.
I purchased the Squares to Spare lamp for my first borns room 4 years ago from Crate and Barrel (the Land of Nod sister company). It was half the price then. I'm feeling a little ahead of the curve for once thankyouverymuch :)
It just crosses my mind that it might not so much be 'although' but BECAUSE you're (we're) childless.
When I think of the ongoing infantilisation in design (making things big, funny, coloured, or playful),
I became aware that it could be the need of compensating the fact of childlessness - and that we became parents at an older age now. There's simply a lack of things who serve our play- and nesting-instinct in our lifes.
..things WICH are serving...
Just my poor English... ; /
...things THAT are serving..??? I capitulate.
I really wanted to order a duvet cover from Land of Nod for our bed but obviously because it's intended for kids they don't make it for king beds. If they weren't so expensive I would've even considered cutting it up and sewing on extra fabric!
I noticed the lazy Susan too, but I found it for much, much less at Michaels
