Looking for a spot to stick the remote, hide the computer cord or stash a bag of chips? Well look no more because Belgian designers Quinze & Milan have teamed up with backpackers Eastpack to create the Backpack Sofa.
Love it or hate it, this seems like an awesome idea for college students or those of us who really abuse our sofas. It's covered in a rugged, heavy-duty fabric and can store books, magazines and all your tech gear. It also looks the part for those of us with spatial problems — I'm talking to you studio apartments.
It's still in the early stages of development, but prices and availability should be coming soon.

awesome. i want one. LOVE pockets.
great, so I'd have all sorts of new places to lose things in.. :P
I'm sorry...I think this just looks HIDEOUS.
Looks great for a game room.
It does look hideous, HOWEVER, don't you think it would be ideal for camping and outdoor patios?
Very funny, lol!
this is so excellent. ideal for a first apartment or a game room. no more losing the remote between the sofa cushions!
AWFUL.
maybe for a dorm room?
ROTFLMAO! Reminds me of a chapter of Frederick Exley's book (A Fan's Notes) called "Journey on a Davenport", in which he doesn't get off his mother's sofa for six months. In other words, the backpack sofa is the perfect piece of furniture for riding out a long bout of depression when all you want to do is just sit and watch TV or stare out the window all day and not have to get up for anything. Got all your supplies right there.
Not my thing, but I can appreciate it as a kind of design stunt.
Hmm, it looks more like Eastpack was trying a way to be relevant and ended up with this strange cross-marketing idea.
I can see kids loving this, with books and toys stashed in all different pockets.
the parachute pants of sofas
Cute for a kid's room maybe, but in an adult's living room? Yikes!
Perfect for a (tom)/boy's bedroom.
This is disgusting... I especially like the models dancing or whatever they are doing in the second picture. I guess this might be okay for like a dorm room as someone else mentioned, other than that I don't really see the point of it. Why so many? It might even be fine if it wasn't the material of a back pack and only had them on the sides...?
Uh...no. But I can see it for a teenager's bedroom, or maybe a cabin, or dorm room (think of the instant tidying up you could do!)
Camping?
Really?
I don't want any zipping and un-zipping while I'm trying to watch 'Lost' or 'Project Runway!'
It's true, this is a love or hate thing.
I'm past twenties, living in my own apartment, and totally LOVE this sofa!! It's very very unusual to come across a piece furniture on the cyber side of design, and this one does the trick!
This would be great for people with small spaces who have clutter problems. I think it would also be good for people with limited mobility--it would be much easier to lean over to get into a pocket for your ipod or a magazine than to try to get across the room.
I also think this is super gimmicky and scary. Perhaps a kid/teen would like it, but I am not sure that is a good enough reason to produce a sofa like this for such a narrow demographic. I must say I do prefer it in the patterned fabric.
I already lose food to the buttcrack in the back of my current Craigslist couch but damn. I can't imagine the volume of snacks I could squirrel away in this one.
Also? What are the dimensions? How does one stretch out and nap on such a short sofa? ...unacceptable.
no
Fugliest couch EVAH!
