Q: We are replacing the counters, backsplash and floor in our kitchen. We have decided to put maple butcher block on the peninsula and Carrera marble around the sink. We are still debating whether we should have marble around the range/oven and other counter (not pictured) or more butcher block. I have two questions. First, what are some good options for the backsplash behind the sink and the rest of that counter?
We had originally wanted to keep it simple and do 4" of marble, but are not sure how to deal with the change in countertop material (from butcher block to marble). Would it look strange to have the marble backsplash on the part of the countertop that's butcher block? Second, how important is it to have a backsplash to the right and left of the range? (The new range itself comes with a built-in backsplash.)
