The internet is a revolutionary and powerful tool, and never is that more evident than when we use it to ogle puppies! If you've had a long week, then check out these five sites for a quick laugh. Don't overthink it, just enjoy the simple pleasures of cute critters.
Maddie The Coonhound (above): Photographer Theron Humphrey's daily diary of Maddie the Dog, defying physics, sporting costumes and just generally being awesome.
Calming Manatee: You need support and understanding and you want it from a manatee. Trust me, you want it from a manatee.
Dog Shaming: If you want to publicly shame your dog for his bad behavior, or just commiserate with other parents of naughty pets.
Cat Bounce: They're cats, they bounce and it's surprisingly addictive. Via A Cup of Jo.
Animals Hugging: Pure, unadulterated cuteness. I dare you not to feel better.

Hellooooo? The ultimate is still Cute Overload.
I think Cute Overload is so well known, there's no need to inform readers about it.
AT: You really, really, REALLY need to post more articles about animals and pets in the home!!!
Similarly, cutearoo.com
Love it! Don't forget about www.facebook.com/boo and www.facebook.com/rambothepuppy they always bring a smile to my face!
For some reason the Dog Shaming stuff irritates me. Dogs don't feel shame so I guess I should just see it as people being silly and having fun, but I just hope they don't actually think that they can punish their dogs for bad behaviour by shaming them. Am I the only one who feels this way?

Daily Squee http://icanhas.cheezburger.com/squee
I have read them daily. How did I ever survive a day before the internet?
@gudrunthered: I totally agree with you. Some of the posts are funny, but I have a problem with attributing human qualities to dogs. They aren't toys - they're autonomous beings with souls and personalities and we should respect that. They're our companions and family members and using them for blatant entertainment purposes and attention (by making them look bad!) is kind of sad. I might sound like an extremist with this point, but it is how I feel.
I really love the sites that show animals doing amazing things naturally on their own terms, i.e. the pics of animals playing, the friendships they have with each other, etc.
@Gudrunthered, I hear you, but I think it's just people being silly and finding a healthy outlet for their frustration. The dogs do appear to actually be "shamed" so the photos are pretty funny.
aw this is a great post :)
my favourite cute animal site: http://www.naptiem.com/
My favourite is Monday's Pets on Furniture feature on Desire to Inspire... the perfect marriage of pets and design.
My biggest gripe with dog shaming is that just about everything posted there is preventable. Training, adequate exercise, prevention when they are young... My dogs have never destroyed anything I really cared about because I made sure they couldn't. And when they did something like poop in the house, it was my fault, not theirs. With my rescue I made too many assumptions about what she had figured out. We needed to go back to basic puppy house training.
On that note, for another week you can check out this live stream of a litter of puppies being raised for Canine Companions for Independence. I am in total awe of these breeder caretakers and hope to be a puppy raiser someday.

@jlwmid: Great point. When dogs are destructive or exhibiting some other 'bad' behaviour, it's never their fault. It's the human's. Human shaming, anyone?
@gudrunthered - I don't think Dog Shaming is a serious attempt at shaming the dogs because, well, they're dogs. It's a joke, like "internet shaming" really doesn't affect people who act stupidly, but you feel like they should be called out on their bad behavior nonetheless.
I had no idea people really treated Dog Shaming so seriously. Pets do bad things all the time. It doesn't always have to do with bad training; sometimes they just get into things. They're like kids. In a blink of an eye, they've run off with your socks. Or they lie down in the middle of the floor so you have to step over them. And no matter what you do to keep them from doing it, they will do it.
And I never get the indication anyone submitting their dogs to the tumblr are angry with their dogs, just amused that so many of them seem to do things no one would think they would do. Exhibit A is the sheep dog that ate a whole bag of buttercream, including the bag and the metal tip. Who would ever think a dog would do that? It's FUNNY, people. Relax.
My favorite site is of photographer, Seth Casteel at www.littlefriendsphoto.com .
I love the his underwater dog photos, it always makes me smile!
Hehe-- I was just looking at the Animals Hugging page when Jack Johnson's "Better Together" came on the radio. Too cute.
Don't forget my Millie!

@tetegrondona - there's always someone who hasn't seen CO! Glad you have it now. Pro tip: hover your cursor over the photos. There is always funny hovertext.
Dog shaming: It's just for fun.
They aren't bad dogs, they just do bad things.
I love the manatee's wise saying: "A whole pint of ice cream sounds like dinner"
I clicked through because I'm already a fan of Maggie the Coonhound--and THANK YOU SO MUCH for the others!! (And for the comments for reminding me of Cute Overload.) It's been a really rough week for various reasons and I really really needed this. :-D
Not exactly "cute" but, http://www.dailycoyote.net/ is a blog with very beautiful photographs.
You'll want to start from the beginning and read Shreve's story in order to fully appreciate it.
One of my absolutely favorites is Daily Puppy. It's totally awesome.
I love all animals and they always make me smile; brighten my day. One of the most pristine images of happiness is a dog with a tennis ball or stick in its mouth, walking along with the owner, no other care in the world.
That is a beautiful photo of Maggie the Dog. Thanks for the link (many amusing, great photos). Maggie is so chill.
I just showed this to my daughter who loved it!

I can't believe no one mentioned The Itty Bitty Kitty Committee. It is by far my favorite cute animal site.
