Back in the day, I used to spend a lot of time on wrapping gifts. But lately, I've turned into one of those "just throw it in a bag and be done with it" kinda people. However, I've been looking for bags that can be more useful than just to carry a gift in. These bags from Bag the Habit could be a great alternative to traditional wrapping. They could even be the gift themselves! A gift that keeps on giving! They're made partly from recycled PET, and are 100% recyclable. We love the great colors and simple graphics. We also love that that they have a large flat gusset on the bottom, which is great for holding larger and heavier groceries.
They come in three sizes, each are $8. (we love the grey one!) Available at Bag the Habit.

these are quite attractive, but I wonder where they are made. I couldn't find that info on their site, and at such a great price, I suspect that they're made overseas (which isn't necessarily bad, but I'd want to see that they're made in an ethical manner, ya know?!)
I also recommend Baggus: they pack down very small, have a pleasing/classic/simple shape (designed to stand upright when full) and come in great colors (I love the olive ones I just bought) - and the people behind the company are based in California (yeah! locally shipped!). They also provide great customer service. Check them out at http://www.baggubag.com/index.html
Also lovely are the envirosax graphic series (I especially like some of the Flora and Amazonia ones). http://usa.envirosax.com/index.php
I don't own any of their bags, so I can't speak as to where their bags are made or shipped from.
Here's to less plastic bag waste in 2008!
These bags are really cute. My friend saw them on a different blog where it said the factory where they were made met all these environmental standards. I don't think it said where though. I just like their weight - really light so you can carry them without having to worry about stuffing it in some pouch. I always lose it!
