Hang the hooks with a similar mindset to hanging art — for example, paired carefully with a cool chair or hung in an unusual arrangement. Since it's also decorative, stick with bags worth displaying, rather than the worn totebag you're hoping to replace. If your shelf space is getting a bit tight, hooks are also a wonderful way to display vintage camera cases.

- This solution is much more attractive than flinging your work bag over the nearest chair. Just make sure to stick to a few bags at a time. Design*Sponge via JPM Design.

I wish. I own a small fortune in purses and I would love to display them like artwork, but hanging would destroy them...
Sorry AT I disagree with you here, I don't like this look. And, isn't it a little tacky to have all your GG out on display?
I use the same bag every day and I keep it on a hook by the door. It's more functional than anything else.
Functional, but not artistic. The first photo benefits from good lighting.
I like the idea but I don't like any of the executions shown here.
This is a terrible idea for the bags themselves, the straps will wear out. Not to mention fading if they are exposed to direct light. Put them in a dust bag and in the closet when not in use.
I literally have over 10 purses that I am not currently using. Some are brand new, some are gently used. I once tried displaying them all on the wall, but just didn't work. It is tacky and straps do wear out as @smariel and @pestle suggested. My perfect solution these days? I got a couple of big wooden baskets and put them all in there. Less clutter looking and looks way more organized. =)
Do the straps wear out even if you hang them empty? I just bought a pretty new purse that gets hung up, and I'd be devastated if the strap wears out from hanging it!
I have a several antique beaded purses & metal mesh purses. Also a few silk & velvet. I would NEVER hang them on the wall in the manner shown here! Yikes! However, because some are really just too lovely to be stored away in a dark closet I went & had archival box frames (with the UV glass) professionally made to put them in for display. I had the boxes made with hinges so I can take them out to wear on special occasions. I also do not have them displayed near direct sunlight. But in my bedroom the do look very pretty hanging on the wall by my closet & vanity dresser. And yes, the box frames were expensive but it was worth the investment. Also, because they are hinged so that I can remove the purses, I am also able to change them around.
