I would think this would be really hard to clean... gunk and mineral deposits would probably get stuck in the creases and corners. Great looking, though.

Those look like Porcelanosa tiles. I forget the model name, but they are not as expensive as you would think- maybe something like $10-12 sf. Don't bother with their nightmarish website- just go to one of the showrooms on Long Island or NJ.
The tiles look like slate to me.

Yeah, I'd wonder about durability - I have had wooden sinks in darkrooms before, and they look pretty awful a few years down the line. How would this be any better? And despite the claim of the 'green' factor of bamboo, what about the laminating in this product?

The website says the bamboo is coated in polyurethane and recommends cotton swabs to clean the corners - how environmentally friendly! The company also offers refinishing, so maybe that's the business model: sell sinks that can't be cleaned and customers will get them refinished frequently.
Ive used bamboo products. They last a pretty darned long time, unless you really beat the crap out of them. For household use its fine, but for business or schools or extremely high traffic areas, that may not be the case.
Ive also seen bamboo that is not properly sealed buckle and craise.
First comment is what I always think when I see these "modern" takes on sinks - always square - so hard to clean! I don't know what the point of a fancy design is if it's not also functional.
I can't believe I'm reading so many close minded people (in this of all blogs) haha. Looks like they're pricey. Looks like they're custom made or at least made to order. You can just ask for rounded angles in the inside and if it's properly sealed it should last a long time. Unless you're a strange clean-freak person (in which case you're already wasting a LOT of water and pouring chemicals all over the place), a few q tips here and there are not going to destroy the earth. I believe you COULD use a folded piece of washable cloth, (is that too hard?) As for decomposing, I'm sure you could always ask that they don't laminate a small piece at the bottom (somewhere where it wouldn't get much moisture) and that way when disposed of, it would still deteriorate and still be completely usable. I don't think you people are stupid, but apparently the reason they place a "comment" box is for you to bitch and moan instead of taking it as inspiration for future projects. People, grow up.
