Home of the past. BLDG BLOG shares with us some photos of Bannerman Castle, taken by Shaun O'Boyle...
The castle caught our eye a few years back and we made a trip there ourselves. It's a real eye-opener on creative living in a homemade castle a stone's throw from the city.

My daily commute takes me past Bannerman Castle every morning, and I can see its silhouette from the bluff by my house overlooking the Hudson. It still makes me gasp a little every time I see it.
I take it that it is not occupied. Thanks Anna at D16, I now know that it's in NY 9 (overlooking the Hudson) could not have guessed where it was located. It does take one's breath away, being in the middle of all that water.
I love this place and I wish the Amtrak conductors would go past it slower when I'm on my way to the house. Someday, I will be draggin' myself out there in a big white dress for a photo op. ;)
The first time I saw Bannerman Castle was on a train trip to Dia:Beacon. I was fascinated and Googled it as soon as I got home. It has quite an interesting history. I hope the trust raises enough money to keep it from deteriorating further.
