Dorm-room decor no more. From the makers of the Alba digital clock, there are a few key reasons why we like this shelf for displaying records better than the ubiquitous album frame...

First, the channel design allows the album to lean against the wall without slipping off of the shelf, giving the display some nice depth and interest. Second, the albums are not in a frame, so they can be easily retrieved to actually listen to them.
Made of solid wood and at 3" deep with hidden wall mounts, we could see using the shelf for a 4"x6" picture or two in clip frames accompanied by a skinny vase, for a mini tableau on a narrow wall. Each shelf can accommodate up to 10 pounds.
$54 for a pack of three at Velocity.

Am I the only one a bit disturbed by "Wood Rumours?" Is there a reason someone bothered to photoshop "Fleet" and "Mac" out of this image? It's a shame- this album so completely totally rules the universe!
I like the idea, but $54 for 3 pieces of wood with a groove in it is kinda ridiculous.
I think the price reflects that they are made of solid wood (not sure what kind, but I've seen them in person and it is a hard wood, not soft like the pine IKEA uses for their similar shelf)
They are also handmade in Canada, not mass produced in China. I'm sure the hidden mounting thingies are also a factor in the price.
hejiranyc - That was also the first thing I noticed about the picture, and it bothered me, too. I love that album.
It bothers me that the pictures hanging above are crooked! But I'm like that.
I don't understand why the "Fleet" and "Mac" were removed.
I love this album too, but this whole thing reminds me of the 70s, and not in a good way. LPs were made to hold in your hands and examine while listening. Not to put on a shelf in lieu of real art - unless you are a poor student. But a poor student would NEVER spend $54 on a set of little shelves, no matter what kind of wood they're made of.
Maybe LPs are so outdated, they're back in again in a kitschy way?
Have LP enthusiasts changed their mind about the common advice that records should not be stored leaning?
I love the amount of comments about the record cover, which by the way was most certainly altered purposely as a play on Furni being a wood centric company. I'm sure you can display many items on this shelf if your not into records how about a print or a photograph. This is a functional and beautiful shelf that has a lot of potential.
These are wicked. Of course they are over priced- but are well made-i was going to make something like this myself but a quick search and i found these- If you love album art and want a changing display (as often as you can be bothered ) then these are fantastic. I take the records out of the sleeve and just display the covers-would love some 7" ones too btw!! Great Gift for the music lover with a record collection languishing in storage etc
