I wish we could blame Jonathan Adler whose life-size fantasy beach house for Barbie in Malibu garnered plenty of press (parts of which were later relocated to the Palms Hotel in Vegas), but the first Barbie-themed hotel room seems to have sprouted its girly, pink head back in 2004.
Since then they've been commissioned, at least for short periods of time, by hotels around the world to, ostensibly, draw in parents of Barbie-loving kids or, perhaps, adult fans. The unifying design element is definitely pink, and lots of it. Some interpretations are more modern and mature, while others are more frilly and girlish.

Hotels in Toronto, Peru, South Korea, Spain and others have also hosted Barbie-themed rooms and suites. I've yet to discover any Ken-themed rooms. Hmmnnn...

Shaw's Original Fir...
These are all ridiculous, but I kind of love the room at The Palms.
MY EYES!
I think this the first Apartment Therapy post that has literally physically hurt me. I can't even make it through the whole ten pictures.
Perfect! (If you're 8 years old.)
I can't imagine a man staying in one of these rooms.
Sorry, I'm 48 years old and would have a lot of fun in these places. In fact, I love that desk and desk chair in the hotel in Italy in my own home. Hubby might not appreciate it, but then again, I don't appreciate his snoring either. ;)
A little bit of pink goes a long way . . .
Awesome.
This is pretty much my worst nightmare.
My husband was put in the Barbie Suite at the Palms on a business trip when they had over booked his level of room. He said it was cool but really creepy to sleep next to a wall of first edition Barbies. Would be a fun spot for a girls night out, if you are into Barbie.
boo. call me when they've done some Irish Traveler Barbie rooms.
Horrors! I have seldom seen anything I hated more! ;^(
