Designer Eric Cohler has some great bathrooms in his portfolio - Janel featured one in her Guess the Decade post a while back. We really like this example, which incorporates a unique approach to artwork in the bathroom...
Above the tub, a cherry blossom pattern seems to be encased behind glass and framed in white tile. The glass overlay protects the pattern from water damage, while the basic tile frame creates the impression of a scene beyond a window. I really love this. I was thinking of doing something similar for my kitchen backsplash to mimic a $10K mosaic I saw in a magazine.
This designer is interesting. I really love his designs in small rooms-- bathrooms and entry ways-- but not so much his living rooms. He seems to have a more monochromatic approach in small spaces that appeals to be, but the contrasts in the living rooms especially are a bit jarring.
looks great
That's a very interesting idea. :) I only wish I could do something like that but alas - I am renting. :(
