Fall means a lot of things: sweaters and falling leaves and hot toddies and, to me, hot baths. Nothing feels better, when you've been a little chilled all day, than coming home and drinking a hot cup of tea in the bath. Which is perhaps why, at this time, I find myself particularly drawn to bathrooms with interesting or unusual or even showstealing tubs. Each one of these bathtubs makes the room — and would make my day, too.

In the lead image, a Japanese-style soaking tub in the bathroom owned by Commune Design founder Pamela Shamshiri, crafted from Hinoki, which is akin to Port Orford Cedar here in the United States. Above, another cedar example, spotted on Dwell, paired with pale blue tiles on the wall behind, which beautifully complement the tub's light wood tones.

The idea of a galvanized metal bathtub probably doesn't immediately conjure up images of luxury — but this bathroom from The Stickett Inn strikes a lovely balance between elegance and warm, country style.

The unusual egg-shaped tub in this bathroom from House & Home is a kind of functional sculpture — and the view isn't bad, either.

In this bathroom from AD Russia, an oversized blue tub becomes the centerpiece of the room. (There's a phone handy if you'd like to make a call from the tub.)

It's hard to believe that this calming little bathroom is in the middle of New York City — but it is, in Bette Midler's Manhattan penthouse (spotted on Architectural Digest).

The rich hunter green of this bathroom from West Country Shutters sets off the dramatic copper tub to perfection.

The oversized modern tub, set against a backdrop of book-matched marble, make this bathroom from Ideal Home particularly dreamy. (This might be a good application for a nice cozy bathrobe, because I imagine all that marble would be a little cold while that giant tub fills.)

This bathroom, in a Greek holiday home spotted on The Style Files, boasts a jaw-dropping sunken concrete tub... and and equally jaw-dropping view.

This freestanding copper tub, spotted on Vogue, has been allowed to age to a beautiful patina. (The kiddos are pretty cute, too.)

This wooden tub, in a bathroom from AD Russia, is perfect for standing in while you're taking a shower — or soaking on a cold day.

If my bathroom was anything like this airy white space from Planete Deco, I might never leave (although I might install some window treatments, too).
