Every time Halloween rolls around I'm reminded of how much space in my closet the costumes (Princess Leia braids included) I've accumulated over the years take up. Not having the guts to toss them (I mean, what if I need them??), means I'll just be adding another one on to the pile this year... or will I?
If you want to try something new, rather than throwing a costume party the night of Halloween, invite your friends to raid their closets and bring all of their spooky paraphernalia over before the holiday for a resourceful swap party! I've borrowed and swapped costumes before but hosting a party takes it to a new level of fun. Plus, you never know what will come out of your friends' closets!

Commercial Flour Sa...
I honestly can't remember the last time I bought some overpriced, polyester "sexy insert-profession-here" costume from those pop up stores.
I'm on the thrift store bandwagon now, you can find such cool stuff for a couple dollars! If you really don't want it hanging out in your closet after the holiday you can just re-donate it.
I usually make mine or buy from thrift stores. Sometimes I even recycle from past costumes. Like I take zippers or things off an old one. So this idea isn't good for me. Not a bad idea though.
