We purchased our house 10 years ago and we did a lot of work ourselves to make it ours. Then we moved to Italy for 3 years and came back to the same house. We took a good look at the house and decided that we wanted to remodel it and bring a bit of Italy to it (that would be the kitchen, of course!)
Since moving back - almost 2 years ago - I have started my own business as a reseller of mid century modern and Scandinavian design. Thrifting, which has always been of interest to me, is now something I do frequently. Our house is filled with some of my best finds, including art and furniture. I am very proud of our little adobe!
Thanks, Beatriz!

Shaw's Original Fir...
Beautifu. MUST. SEE. MORE.
AT, you forgot the location for this House Call (unless Beatriz specifically asked for it to not be listed - then, never mind).
I agree wholeheartedly with meggs - PLEASE feature this home in a House Tour.
Wonderful! Would love to see a house tour.
We need to see the kitchen so we can see the "Italy" vibe!
Maybe she's in Santa Fe! She did say "adobe"! (Though maybe that was a typo for "abode." I do that all the time. :))
Yes! a bit odd that the kitchen that is talked about isn't shown....
Hello all, thank you for your comments. I am in Orange County, California, and yes, I did not send a picture of the kitchen! You can see a sneak peek of it on my blog http://www.midmodmom.com/2012/08/meet-thrifter.html
I had a dream last night of a pea-green wall and grey sofa thinking YUCK until I saw the room pulled together in my DREAM. Then I open AT and see this post...Not the same room as my dream, but enough similarities to make it a bit scary, freaky!
This room is also a WOW....
i love the wall color but not a fan of the 'centrifugal' method of decorating. [everything plastered against the walls.]
you have such a great space...why not float some of it?
it may make the space even more compelling.
Add me to the "must see more" list! How do you keep those floors so clean?!?
holy cow follow the link, the kitchen is terrific.
I love the accent walls. Color on walls is generally not my thing but I love how she used accent walls with tons of white to balance. Great!
Would love to see a full House Tour.
Your home is beautiful. You have a great eye for color.
What a great home - I love it!
I'd love to know the green paint color... please? :)
This is what a lot of people try but never pull off. They need to learn from this example.
We painted the house a long time ago, before we kept records of everything with our blogs and instagram pictures. I am sorry to say that I do not know the paint color.
Wow ! Please show us more !!!
this home is beautiful...i would love to live here...colors and design are just about perfect!
Congrats Bea!!! Love the mini tour and cant wait to see the rest of your amazing place :-)
Cheers ~ Lara
TFS. Love it all and that kitchen is divine!
NEED a full tour! Beautiful. Love the colors!
Do you have any information on the large green bottle/vase in the first picture on the floor? I have one that I've had for many years but know nothing about it. Thanks.
@BillyRes the green bottle is a demijohn, a bottle used for home fermentation of beverages such as wine or beer. We got ours in Italy where they are commonly found (of course) Ours is cast glass, really old ones are hand blown and are worth a lot.
Thank you! Now I know!
