I love chairs. I love blue. I love blue chairs. Blue can be mellow and luscious or bright and spirited. And blue looks good with most colors (how can the color of the sky and sea clash with anything?). But some blues are more uplifting and playful than others. Unless paired with white or another light color, navy can be downright depressing (insert cheap play on "has the blues" or "sings the blues" here) and almost dirty looking. But throw in a little indigo, teal, turquoise, sea foam or peacock and it's all blue skies.

Love that first chair - Which is actually the Kingston Wing Chair from Bernhardt.
I don't understand this site sometimes. Usually it's about upcycling, small spaces, DIY projects, inexpensive remodels. However, there are posts like these sometimes that don't really gel with me. I would appreciate a more varied price range. There is only one chair on this list that is below $700. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that most readers of AT don't have a $700 budget for a chair, or $5,000 for that matter.
I don't use blue and purple much lately, but some of these blues are very pretty.
I agree with sweethomesweet. who pays that much money for a chair? this world is warped.
Total eye-candy. Love the colors!
$700 is, I'm sorry, about the minimum price for a new, good quality, modern-style chair. IKEA does not fall under "good quality". I've done the research. What I ended up doing was buying older solid chairs and having them re-upholstered. Still not less that $600 including the initial piece, fabric and the upholstery work.
I think furniture prices have skyrocketed in the last ten years frankly and would love to see a comparison. You just can't find a chair made with solid wood and joins, quality foam and soft/tough fabric for $200 anymore unless it's some kind of unbelievable, once in a lifetime sale. Or at an outlet mall.
I was super excited for this post until I saw the prices. I've been looking for two chairs along the lines of 5 and 7, but At over a grand a piece, thats not happening.
Can anyone help me? I have a budget of 500.
Some posts inspire me to make practical improvements. Others, often the ones labelled as inspiration, inspire me to laugh or daydream. Both kinds are fine by me.
I agree with kiacook and miami's elaine, to get a really long lasting, good quality piece you have to spend the money, and when I see high end homes and the more expensive furniture, I am inspired. I just like it when I can also see some options that are similiar but in the lower price range.
