Blue is one of the most popular colors used in the home. Depending on the intensity, blue can be soothing, dramatic, bold and well, just about anything you want it to be.
It's well known how successful a pale blue can be for interiors. It picks up light perfectly and exudes a relaxing vibe throughout the room and even the entire home. But what if you went totally dark blue — maybe even almost black? Try it in a room such as the dining room or bedroom. A deep navy on the walls in the dining room provides a super dramatic environment that'll keep guests coming back for more!
An easy way to try blue on for size is in the bathroom. Use sea glass accessories on the walls or countertops or even install an ocean blue backsplash. You'll think you've been whisked away to a fabulous spa.

We have a super dark dining room and it is by far my favorite room in the house. I never used to like blue, but somehow all the walls we've painted so far have ended up a shade of blue.

I've never liked dark blue on the wall. I've seen it done in person and on television and it is just too much visual stimulation for me. It only seems to look good in scenes that have been subject to a lot of photoshopping.
I love the deep denim paints. I think it adds such amazing depth and drama to a space when you add in bright pops of color with furniture and accessories.
Many blues seem to need a lot of light not to go gray. I like bright blues, though.
Oooh, I love this! Gorgeous. Too dark for my little condo that only gets like on one side, but I've often thought about doing dark blue accents.
Also, I was actually referring tot he dining room pic. The other light blues are a little too insipid for me.
I really like all of these. Particularly number 2: love the turquoise, teals, and whites, balanced with the warm furniture and the spots (trying not to say "pops") of bright pink in the pillow and the artwork above the mantel. Gorgeous.
I especially love the first one.
The fourth photo skeeves me out a little--like a giant is peeing into a pool.
We have a dark blue office (balanced by white wainscoting) and I love it (BM Lucerne). It's my favorite color in the house. Well, that's tied with the slightly lighter version in the guest room (BM Buckland Blue). We also have a bright teal master bedroom and it WILL be repainted (in a year or two, when we've recovered from the initial painting). Blues are great!
The living room and dining room in my little condo are around the same color as pic number 1. The paint color is poppy seed by Behr. I love it. I was actually going for dark grey but it looks blue on the walls.
the first picture is of black walls. that's sfgirlbybay's new house.
can't stop thinking of all the food that would get caught in that rug in the first pic. i otherwise like it.
what a group of absolutely gorgeous rooms! I am totally head over heels for that deep, rich dining room! I have two blue rooms of the own and LOVE them! My master bedroom and my guest bathroom! Both are works in progress, but the blues just make me happy!
I had the wall of my craft/sewing room navy blue for a few months. The other three walls are all windows and white trim, and it was gorgeous in the summer. Once winter hit though, I felt like I needed something warmer, so now it's orange.
I do have quite a bit of the blue left though, and I am planning to use it in our basement. I think a navy wall will be stunning with the pool table (not that there is anything stunning about our basement).
I painted my living room blue and it is a good choice with my mounted sail fish
lady j is quite right - this is my dining room and the walls are actually rust oleum's chalkboard black. i believe the photograph from rue magazine is just a bit saturated, making it look blue.
