I have always had all-white beds. White comforter, pillows, and coverlet. I find it soothing and fresh to climb into a king-sized puffball of white. But I have decided to branch out and get a colorful and patterned bedspread or quilt that I can layer over my existing white bedding.
Here are some beautifully patterned bedspreads and quilts in a rainbow of colors. Many are bohemian chic or Indian-inspired, my favorite look in textiles at the moment. Many are bold and bright. The way I see it, bedding is a wonderful place to dabble in new styles, textures and colors. If I feel I need a respite I can simply remove the top layer and return to snowy white neutrality!

You know what would be nice? if in addition to the pretty pictures you had a source for the bedspreads as well.
Agree! No links = big bummer. Nice pics though.
Well, the duvet in the 13th pic is from Ikea, because I have it. ;) Some of those others are really decadently gorgeous.
Not a patterned bedspread/quilt, but I do love the cat lump in pic5!
^
Haha. I think that's a dog lump.
Hey, AT, throw us a bone and identify the sources! I'm in love with #14; I've visited the designer's website and no luck. Help!
Catrin (author) here. How about I try to Track down some of the sources... Stay tuned for a follow-up post!
Yay, Catrin! I will worship you forever if you can find #14!
I am sorry, but this post is nothing like the vibrant bedspread post. Not only is it unhelpful at finding attractive quilts, it is poorly researched and downright deceiving. For example #7 was an anthropologie quilt that has been discontinued for 3 or 4 years, and several others are just recycled from previous posts without regard to price and availability.
It looks like everything I wanted to say in this post has already been covered by the previous posters. Just wanted to add an Amen.
Hello!
I would love to sew myself similar duvets for my home. I have difficulties though finding fabrics that are wide enough e.g. 160 cm / 63 inches.
Can anyone help letting me know where I can purchase online extra wide fabrics?
Thanks!
