As both a book lover and a typography nerd, I was thrilled to see that Jessica Hische collaborated with Barnes and Noble to create some stunning book covers for their Leatherbound Classics collection. Her fresh illustrations with vintage flair would make handsome additions to any shelf.
If you don't know Jessica Hische, you have probably seen her work. In addition to designing books, she created Daily Drop Cap, illustrates for magazines, and even did a House Tour with us.
Though I already own most of these titles in clothbound Penguin classics, I have a feeling these will be gracing my living room shelves very shortly. Every room needs a pretty copy of Pride and Prejudice, right?

Shaw's Original Fir...
It's moments like this that I wish I collected more than eBooks. Those are stunning!
Awww... just started Jane Eyre, wish I'd seen these first!! Very pretty, and would look great on any bookshelf.
When I was younger I though that one day I would have a house with a library filled with leather bound classics.
But today I value the space itself more than almost anything I could use to fill it.
I saw these on amazon a week go and immediately regretted starting a collection of penguin classics. I'm abandoning them for these, pronto.
These books look really cool but if you try to read them, the metallic ink on the spine rubs off :(
They're gorgeous but, leather's not an option for me, I'll stick with the Penguin Classics (though I'm not thrilled with the book quality I do love a pretty book). The rest of my 'keeper' books I'm recovering in bits of linen leftover from my upholstery projects which turned out to be a beautiful option for dressing up the shelves.
You got me... damn you! I just went to b&n and ordered some of the earlier books they did in leather, Alice in Wonderland and the complete works of Jane Austen.
Alas, I love the look of leather bound books like these to dress up my bookshelves, but I can't bring myself to spend the money when paperbacks are so much cheaper and easier to carry around.
I've been eyeing these for some time now... the HG Wells one most of all!
Oh... I am running out the door to get these!!!!
Wow, these are beautiful! (The horrible thing is that my first reaction was, wow, that would make a stunning iPad case! I have been on the lookout for a used, unwanted hardcover with the right dimensions that I can "dissect" to use for iPad storage. I never would have thought I'd consider such a thing, being the book lover that I am. Rest assured, I wouldn't actually do that to one of these.)
I HATE that I just swore off buying new books - these are beautiful. (And AmberM, don't feel bad - I'll be voting for someone to make a similar Kindle case!)
Oh, just beautiful! They remind me of the antique books at the Biltmore Estate. I'll never, ever fall out of love with books. Space be damned!
These are beautiful. I have Alice in Wonderland, which is my favorite, and a few others already. But it really annoys me that they're doing almost all the same books as the Penguin Cloth covered books! I'm not going to buy the exact same books twice, even if they are incredibly beautiful.
Darn, now I want to replace all my books!
I love these...I got Arabian Nights and it's gorrrgeous.
Sigh..... I have been collecting the Penguin cloth bound books, and I already have most of these! While these are awesome, but I just can't justify buying them twice. Booo.
