The Hillside House: A Beautiful LEED Home in Marin

We wrote about the Hillside House in May, but for those of you that didn't catch it, we thought it'd be worth revisiting. This Marin home was designed by SB Architects and was one of the first LEED Platinum homes in Marin County. The home, located on a steep hillside, has a minimal footprint and really connects with the outdoors.

The home is small by custom standards, and weighs in at 3 BR and 3.5 BA. The master bedroom is only 12x12 but has a master terrace, which makes the space feel bigger. The home incorporates all of green features to be expected: solar hot water, radiant floor heating, LED and fluorescent lighting, recirculating hot water, super insulated walls and roofs, insulated doors and windows, reclaimed exposed roof framing, no VOC interior paint by Mythic, FSC-certified cabinet cores, engineered walnut flooring, fly ash concrete, low-flow plumbing fixtures, recycled concrete counters and no lawn.
