German designer Stefan Diez debuted his line of new bentwood tables and chairs for Thonet in 2007-08. We're going to go out on a limb and say that we think these hold their own with the original classic bentwood chairs of the 1890s and early 1900s. Constructed from laminate wood, the legs and armrests merge in a "knot" that's hidden in a recess underneath the seat. What do you think? Are we way off base, or is this chair a contemporary classic?
