#3 is my favorite; it's got a place for everything AND space to work. Some of the other rooms' desks are so small it would be impossible to work on anything other than your computer (I'm looking at you, #6).
Geez, I wish I were in a position to participate in The January Cure (just trying to finish up a major construction project at the house).
We "carved" storage space out of a deeply pitched ceiling, behind a door, by stealing space from the closet on the other side. This is a photo from about two years ago:

And on the other side of the room, where we had removed an old chimney and cramped closet, we had a built-in desk installed (photo from 2011):

The other side of the room has been set up as a seating area (the cats like to sleep here in the afternoon):

#3 Please! I recently dismantled my craftroom/art studio to make room for baby coming soon. I miss it! We now have an office/craftroom/guest room going on but it is NOT functional, and has become a dumping ground.
I'm probably losing my studio, too, and it was never as large and luxurious as any of these. Painful.
3&7 just look like home offices. The only vaguely crafty thing I see in 3 is a gift wrap station, and there's nothing at all in 7.
This one too http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/a-peek-inside-brooks-inspirational-and-organized-craft-roombeing-brook-165826 - added bonus to have built most of it to fit her needs!
Although these craft rooms are beautiful, they are so sterile, neat, and void of inspiration, imho. I think a creative person needs a certain amount of 'disorder' to feel comfortable in. I know that when I'm doing some artwork, I kinda need all my stuff out and around me. I admire these well-organized rooms, but they're the kind-of rooms you see in mags and HGTV, maybe useful, but not used.
I absolutely agree! I remember seeing pictures of Julia Childs' kitchen and thinking how it would never make the pages of a design magazine. But from a work room perspective, it was definitely a great idea: everything at hand, and clearly ready to "do business".
Here is a link to interior shots of her house, with an emphasis on her kitchen: http://hookedonhouses.net/2009/08/05/julia-childs-little-house-in-cambridge/
I love the article on Julia Childs house. Thankyou for the link.
I agree, my sewing room looks like a bomb has gone off most of the time. I only clean it up when visitors are coming as the spare bed is in there.
However, it's a great way to get inspiration and ideas on storage etc. A good place to start at least.
Wow, I could REALLY use a space like this! My space is so small. I am always creating my CIYs all over my apartment.

I agree with what some of you said, these rooms, although beautiful and neat, have no "soul". As if they just exist to be seen, or to show off. My office/craft room is always vibrating with all these things that happen at the same time and inspire me (I can barely see my walls, as I pinned so many images on it). I'd love more messy rooms, REAL craft rooms please, just to see how real life would happen in these spaces!
