January around here is all about organizing, and there's nowhere in the home that organization is as important as in the kitchen. Whether you want things shut away behind sleek cupboard doors or arranged on open shelving for all to see, an ultra-organized kitchen is a sight for sore eyes. Let these spaces inspire you to begin 2013 with a room that's a treat for the eyes as well as the tastebuds.

Shaw's Original Fir...
I love the 9th kitchen, it is so tiny, colorful, and cute! Of course it had to be in Domino Magazine, I miss that magazine so much.
Can anyone ID the round pendent light in pic #5? LOVE!
I like a clean and modern kitchen, but I believe the best kitchen is the ones that are actually used and lived in!
Thanks for the yummy inspirations. Personally, I get a lot out of simple posts like this!
Michael Penney is a great guy with lots of verve. His eponymous shop in Whitby,Ontario is a delight for unexpected treasures.
UpErMei - it's the Coral Pendant Light by David Trubridge. I adore it!!
Really unpractical. Open shelves everywhere. In a kitchen books and other things on open shelves get all dirty and greasy. Not very practical. Cupboards and shelves should have doors, both to keep things clean and to get a cleaner look of the entire kitchen.
UpErMei - I've seen a few pendants like the one in #5. It could the medium (or small, large, etc.) Coral Pendant by David Trubridge, which is kinda spendy. A less expensive veneer pendant would be the Austen Wood Veneer Pendant at PBTeen, or you could make one yourself following the instructions for a Moresque Lamp by stregoi.
Yeah, what's with all the books? What a greasy, dusty nightmare!
I've had several kitchens with cookbooks on open shelves and have never had a problem with them getting "greasy." I cook mostly vegetarian and don't, like, deep-fry things, so maybe that's the difference, but I am always bewildered when these inevitable OPEN SHELVING, HOW DISGUSTING comments come up. I mean, dust, sure, but that would be true if the cookbooks were kept in the living room too.
I am obsessed with the neatly organized collection of jars in #10 and I just keep looking at #4, it seems so peaceful.
Loving the round pendant bulb lights above the floating bench in pic 3. Anyone know where these are from?
LOVE
We have had open shelving for years and have never had a problem- and we cook...a lot. I think the main thing to keep in mind though is one needs adequate ventilation (meaning a serious vent hood, etc...). When we recently remodeled, a great vent hood was way up on our needs list. No greasy cookbooks here!!
I've got complete kitchen envy now after looking at these kitchens. No.13 is the closest to mine, but even that's bigger!
