One of the wonderful things about art is that it can help us see the world in a different light. That's why I love this installation at The DeCordova Museum in Lincoln, Massachusetts. Created by artist Soo Sunny Park and composer Spencer Toppel, it manages to take something mundane, and even ugly — chain link fencing — and turn it into something beautiful.
The color in the piece comes from thousands of iridescent plexiglass squares inserted into the chainlink. Throughout the day, shifting light in the space paints a rainbow-colored mosaic on the walls. To add an additional dimension to the experience, Spencer Topel's accompanying music plays in the space, varying in tone and intensity based on the movement of the viewer and the number of people present.
Artist Soo Sunny Park is known for creating mind-bending installations from everyday materials. You can see more of her work here.

Beautiful!
Wow!
See, this is why I like artists, and art. People who think art is trivial need to wake up...this is just God-like!
Support art!
Adding the Decordova to my to do list for the month of May! This is stunning. And I agree @littlemisssunshine. Support art!
fantastic. I would love to see this in person.
Oh.My.Gerd. Chain link never looked so unchainlink like. It makes me feel like a mermaid under glittery, frothy waves. I'm dying because the beauty is just too much. (I hope that doesn not ready sarcastically, because I'm serious.)
I.Love.This.
I have 2 rectangle windows in my condo way up high. They don't open just offer light. This chain-link fence art would certainly make the livingroom sparkle. Would love those as windows. Really lovely.
Really remarkable. Talk about a space-changing installation.
Thank you for sharing this. It's beautiful.
Wow, I wasn't expecting to like this but it's beautiful. I cannot imagine how long it took to create it...
Just a note - the museum building is closed through 5/25 (sculpture garden open) - so delay your visit a few weeks.
Ah-maz-ing!! I agree with Littlemisssunshine - this is why we need artists in the world. To help us see the miraculous in the mundane.
