The Bunker Bed is intended to replace your boxspring and keeps a rather low profile when a bed frame is fitted around it. We would go as far as to say, if you didn't know it was there, you wouldn't even notice it. Although a bed skirt might be in order.
It might allow those who would like to keep more than just a few important documents in their home safe and keep things that might take up more space but carry a great deal of sentimental value as well, for instance a wedding dress.

Wow, that's heavy duty. Not something for me, but love the "Zombie Apocalypse" title!
So, if your house went up in flames, you could leave your valuables in here knowing they would be safe? I guess that's pretty cool, because you certainly wouldn't want to be moving your mattress and opening that thing up while trying to escape a fire.
You may not have enough time to push your mattress off the safe, open the combo, load your gun, then shoot.
There is a bedside gun rack called "The Backup." It mounts to the side of your bed, between the boxspring and mattess. Your rifle/shotgun is within arm's length and you don't even have to get out of bed. Keep your ammo in a biometric lock box on your nightstand and you're good to go.
Obviously, you keep the bulk of your arsenal in a gun safe in the linen closet. I like that I'm not the only one preparing for the inevitable zombie attack.
It looks as if the mattress is meant to lie directly on top of this contraption, making it totally useless for quick extraction of the safe contents as well as damned uncomfortable. Nobody really needs it, but are there enough paranoiac survivalists out there (with 2-4 extra Gs)to justify manufacturing this thing?

Seems like something a militia member would have in their home. It probably also weighs about a million pounds. A conventional safe would be a better fit for most people. Why is this being featured on AT again?

This made me smile, and in zombie apocalypse terms, yeah... I totes want one. I can keep my shot guns and machetes in there. I sleep upstairs, and I'll have plenty of time to get them out once I activate my stair-to-slope mechanical anti-zombie perimeter system.
Are you kidding me? Total eyesore (especially with guns!). This storage solution is rather impractical, not to mention expensive. I actually own a a box spring from Ikea with a similar concept and we do not use the storage area. It is a pain to move the king-size mattress to retrieve whatever is in storage. In the photo above, the mattress is just pushed off to access storage but if you have a bedskirt (which you want to hide the eyesore), you have to be much more careful about moving the mattress.
Hmm....so the bang is now UNDER the bed.
But do zombies stop if you shoot at them? I'm not convinced.
I know millions of Americans have at least one gun but the thought of guns in homes kinda freaks me out.
Hey, some people that love good design and architecture would also like to keep their guns safe. And no, we're not all from Texas.
so maybe one side should hold guns and the other side should hold a gun and an oxygen tank. Looks big enough if the zombies are on their way, you could totally pop in there and hide. It's big enough that they're not going be able to block it that bad. Might want to outfit it with some super strong hydraulics though, just in case something is on top of it and you need to bust out.

Yeah, I've found the number of people who have run out and bought guns since President Obama was elected pretty creepy. The fact that they would spend half a grand to store them under their beds doesn't surprise me.
For some reason, I feel that I can find better uses for the money.
