Those rusty old metal mattress frames and springs are back, as display pieces that is. This is the third display this Fall that I have found featuring mattress frames bolted into the wall with pictures attached to the woven metal. These pieces are often turned into scrap metal or buried at the bottom of dumpsters. Who knew their comeback would be so prominent? Read after the jump to learn about how this piece can become an accent in your house!

This particular piece was a rusty black, with the legs removed and mounting hooks well hidden underneath the space for legs. They used office clips to attach these frameless pictures to the mattress. Other variations included rusty yellow and robin's egg blue frames with various designs embedded in the wire, from flowers to pictures. Quite genius in fact, given the amount of wires and ways to hang things.
This piece was hung high over a couch, but others have been added (back) to bedrooms as art as well.
What do you think: good idea?

Shaw's Original Fir...
I like this particular example but others I have seen just look cheap.
don't like. somehow my idea of art doesn't involve what looks like chain link fence on my wall. a bit too prison chic for my taste.
