Q: Our two daughters - ages 4 & 2 - share a room. We were gifted a beautiful antique twin-size four poster bed (not pictured) for our older daughter. This has been working fine for us since the baby has been in her crib. Now that we're looking at changing over to a twin bed for our younger daughter, I'm worried about finding a bed to "match" the antique. I know I'll never be able to find an exact replica of the four-poster and think two four-poster beds would overwhelm their small room (12x12). Any suggestions short of buying two new beds?

Pottery barn has a couple good options, here's 1:

Have you thought about getting a trundle for the one twin bed and having them "share" a bed? One of my childhood friends had an antique bed that her father installed a trundle under for sleepovers. It was great!
You might also want to consider not having the beds match exactly. Perhaps you can find another twin that compliments the one you already have. I don't know what the theme of the room is, but you could always bring in vintage and rustic pieces to bring the whole look together. I love the use of unmatched furniture and try to avoid too much "matchy, matchy".
I would recommend buying another four poster bed (not necessarily in the same style as the original) and then painting the two different beds in the same color (use something whimsical here, like an apple green or aqua---whatever). This will tie them together, while giving the room an eclectic vibe.
I think I would try to get something white and sort of Victorian, but I agree that 2 4-posters is too much. I would get a white wrought iron bed. Vintage, if possible. I would want the younger girl to feel like she, too, had a special bed- albeit different from her sister's.
I would consider the old style iron bed frame. Some are so ornate and beautiful. I see them regularly at flea markets and most are just in need of fresh paint.
Would a Jenny Lind bed coordinate? Those are easily available.
You could also buy simple bed, glue on some flourishes (available at woodworking stores, and probably home depot etc) and finials, and paint to match. There are lots of easy diy painting techniques to antique an item.
what about a day bed? something that has more of a couch look to it! ikea had/has a black iron style twin bed. it can look like a couch with some pillows along the back or one side of it.
I also was going to suggest a daybed...so cute and whimsical with pillows and there precious stuffed animals set against the back piece. I also think it would look wonderful without competing with the four poster bed. I really like the metal and wood one that Ikea offers, but a cheaper option is garage sales and craigslist. Also painting them the same color would tie the room together. Good Luck and make sure to let us know what you end up with : )
restoration hardware has some amazing knockoffs.
How about dismantling the current bed, using the headboard for one and the footboard as a headboard for the other, and attaching them (with zip ties so you don't damage them) to a simple Hollywood (metal) bed frame?
try laylagrace.com- they have some cute vintagey looking beds. you might get lucky and find a similar frame.
