kudos to Paula for hanging her own wallpaper, but for goodness sakes the wonkiness is making my eyeballs bleed.
That wall is a reason to hire a professional wallpaper hanger if I ever saw one...
fabulous job...that mirror is amazing
I must say I am quite excited my room made it on here. I also wish I took another full pic, because I promise the wallpaper does not look that wonky in person. Now I know! Thank you!
Your effort deserves an A .
;-D
I have to disagree: the close-ups show that the wallpaper is not aligned, one sheet to the next. I do wish you'd matched the patterns up.
Love your taste and I can tell a lot of effort went into this. If the wallpaper doesn't bug you- good, because that's what matters!
I think you need one more major element- something above the bed. It's a huge wall, and though the wallpaper adds a lot of interest, I think it's lacking a central focus. I would put up a huge framed picture in a black frame- it would mirror the "frame" on your gorgeous duvet, and help balance the room.
Given the asymmetrical aspect of the wall, and this particular pattern of wallpaper, I personally feel that the unevenness of the wallpaper is okay in this case. 99% of the time something like this would bug the heck out of me. But I just think that the pattern is organic enough and the room itself is wonky enough (in a good way!) that it just works. Sure, it would be more crisp if it was aligned. But sometimes we just need to let things go I think (which is really hard for me personally, because I'm so uptight about so many things.)
That said, I really like your room! I think a grouping of different sized circle mirrors (maybe 7 or so?) above the bed would look wonderful and really help set the tone, especially since the wallpaper doesn't line up.
The size of that room and that wall is a challenge. I think you tackled it pretty well. I like the details, the mirror, mismatch between the desk and the chair. I just would love to see another curtain and a different more stylish kind of blinds. Maybe it is already in your to-do list. But in general, kudos!
wish it was better aligned i didn't notice until second glance. seems like a waste of time and money if you don't do it right.
That close-up of the wallpaper makes me cringe.
i have wallpaper ready to be put up and was planning to do it on my own. . .
now i am reconsidering.
to have the pattern mis-matched would drive me crazy.
thank you to those who left the sweet comments. I do love the idea of something over the bed. I do plan on either stripping the desk and staining it dark or painting it white. Haven't quite decided. First time for everything right, ha!
I'm guessing that Paula didn't realize the wallpaper pattern is supposed to match up on the seams -- there's no way someone could be SO off just by accident. Given that the edges are trimmed so cleanly and the rest of the room is as neat as a pin, Paula doesn't strike me as the sloppy type.
Anyway, Paula, just so you know for next time, the pattern should continue from sheet to sheet. It easy to calculate where to cut once you know the measurement of the repeat.
(jac7890, don't be discouraged -- I've hung wallpaper myself a number of times, and while it is time-consuming, it's really not too difficult!)
Aside from the pattern issue, you've made great progress with your room. That doesn't look like an easy space to deal with, but you've managed to make the room look way more balanced and serene.
Paula- I love your style & taste. Those lampshades are fantastic, I am LOVING that little silver apple, and I really like the wallpaper you chose. As for me, hate perfection, so I think the way the wallpaper is hung is charming.
Applause for Paula for not being afraid to hang wallpaper. The colors are soothing. But the window area looks like a dormroom with the desk, lamp, and plaid curtains. I would work on a that a bit more.
