I just put up my first black lampshade - the problem is, like you, it's at my bedside and I find that it does not give off good reading light - do you have that problem? I love the look of it, but I'm finding it impractical.

I love the stools you used for nightstands - they are so clean and the scale is just right.

I too pondered what I would do without my nightstand drawer if I switched to my design ideal of a cantilevered shelf for a nightstand. Considered a basket for those fumbled-for goodies; good idea here!

Those black lampshades let through a lot of light, so I have no trouble reading in bed.

I bought those two stools nearly 10 years ago at a small antique shop in Portland. They have served as everything from extra seating to speaker stands for my keyboard to their latest incarnation as bedside tables. I think they cost $20 for the pair when I got 'em.

The bookshelves are the Cubitec shelving system from design within reach. And price-wise, they might be the only thing I'll ever find there actually within reach. These are the (discontinued) brown, but they have a nice array of colors.

wow, you guys are making me give up all my secrets! The clock is a pick-me-up clock (google it for where to get it. I picked up mine at Hello! Portland in, you guessed it, Portland).

The lamps are from urban outfitters, about a year ago, but they still might have them.

and in case anyone asks, the carafe was a gift from my step-father's mother to himself and my mother on the event of their marriage and the metal box is from the container store!

I love those bedside tables too. I think it's funny you've hidden your toys away though and then you told everyone where you hid them.
