Are men and women that different when it comes what they want in a bed? (We'll leave what they want in bed to another blog). Apparently bed manufacturers think so; there's a whole new section of the bed market that caters to men...
Built-in flatscreens, safes, ipod docking stations, surround sound and outlets for laptops are just some of the gadgetry that men are apparently looking for when they purchase a bed and they're willing to spend big money to purchase a bed equipped with them. For the full article, click here
- Hollandia International’s ‘Sphere’ bed, includes a champagne cooler and a flat screen TV embedded in frame.
- Their Executive bed has a flat screen that rises from the footboard
- Magniflex’s Lamborghini bed has a cooling system.
- Hollandia's Glow bed...well, it...umm...glows. It also has storage.
Any of you menfolk want to weigh in on this trend's appeal to you?

wow. really? I'm just happy with some fluffy pillows, but then again...I'm not a man. :)
Apparently by man they mean "confirmed bachelor". And not in the homo sort of way.
from the pictures, it looks like the marketing department determined after much research that "men want ugly beds!"
The Lamborghini bed really captures the essence of the cars: looks good but too small to fool around in.
Whelp! I want the Lamborghini bed in my OWN bedroom. No boys allowed :P
Any of these will do if you wish to spend the rest of your life in bed...alone.
As a woman, I would not sleep with a man owning one of these beds.
Beds for men, or beds for single men who work in finance? Champagne coolers? Tacky. On behalf of my gender, I'd just like to say, "no thank you".
That pink glowing bed looks like it came from Miami Vice...and not in a hip, nostalgic kind of way...
That's like saying all women want is to have something that is pink and has a built-in thighmaster. Give me a break.
Yup, bachelor pads for straight men who just aren't marketable to women anymore. Thus the build in TV - because those just don't look comfortable.
Men want shiny pink beds? Who knew...
Say what you want, I want a TV in my footboard!
I was almost tricked into thinking they had an ok bed from the thumbnail of the gray one. I was thinking "this one seems out of place, it isn't that tacky at all just plain" then when i clicked on it BAM, flatscreen TV.
I am single in a big city and a small space. I have room mates so I tend to watch TV in my room a lot to take a break. God invented wall mounting for a reason. A TV in the bed? That is just lazy.
If there weren't any tv in the first one, and it was a bit longer, and a different color, it'd be pretty neat to have that for a bed. Like a canopy bed, but more durable.
Perfect for a Smoove evening! So I hopped over to The Onion to see what Smoove is up to and he said he had to cook that cauliflower or it would go bad and that reminded me I have one needing cooking too. Perfect idea: to make some spicy curry to ward off this getting sick feeling. AT, alway so helpful.
Yum, sexist furniture. Woohoo reinforcement of gender stereotypes!
Men go to bed like this – doo doo doo – and women go to bed like this – laa dee daa daa.
You should hear my bit on how black and white people sleep.
I am a woman, and I totally dig the red bed with the champagne holder and the tv. Gimme gimme!
The Axe body spray of furniture.
Is nobody else creeped out by the closeup of the sleeping woman on the flatscreen on the red bed?
If I walked into a man's room and he invited me to stay the night in a shiny pink bed, I'd be out the door.
Most of these might as well come with "No Gurls Aloud" hand-painted signs because they all remind me of themed toddler beds for grown men.
Yes, a tv in the footboard is cool. I'd want that too. And maybe some speakers well-hidden in the headboard connected to the mp3 player. But that's it.
I really am sick of gender profiling.
well if we must have something labeled the bed for men it is probably only in opposition to the years of high, fluffy, multiple decor pillow / stuffed animal bedecked beds of single women
I am a woman and I LOVE the first two beds. The first one is cocoon-like, and for a person like me with A)bad eyesight, B)rules about not bolting things into the walls (yea, its not about lazy, its against the rules, dude.) I can totally get behind beds like these.
I'm not sure what makes these for men, any more than I am not sure why there's anything wrong with them.
