This weekend we switched out our night stands and are in need of a new home to rest our eyeglasses at night. The search began as we found everything from Muppets to Retro and Classic to Modern. Check them out after the jump...
We knew that we wanted to avoid eyeglass holders that resembled over-exaggerated body parts (typically giant noses) and most forms of wildlife (bass, goats, sheep, eagles) that wear your glasses while you sleep. That being said, we are horrible about hanging onto pouches of any kind, or actually using them. So check out the finds below to see if any of them would have a place by your bed as well.
We spotted this crocheted "Ernie" Eyeglass Holder over on Craftzine. You can check it out here. It's not exactly design-forward in nature, but it's just so darn cute we had to mention it.
Your glasses don't have to rest on the face of a Muppet to be safe from scratches. This leather valet tray should do the trick nicely. It is also a great spot to keep your watch or rings as well. They come in multiple colors and personalization is also offered.
These laminated-fabric trays come in dozens of colors. There are more and more colors/patterns each month. So if there isn't something you see now, check back later!
While hunting for eyeglass holders, we hadn't really expected to come across anything from a spa supplier. But we love the idea of this simple holder that could be painted or stained (or just sealed) to match your decor. It could either be attached to a wall just as it is, or the side of your night stand even.

I just fold mine and place them neatly on top of the night stand. Do like the spa holder however.
I can't have mine out in the open, or my cat knocks them around and chews on them. I'm stuck with a case that hides them. I like the tray idea, though.
I love the Ernie, you could adapt the concept into just about any sort of critter. My only problem - the cat would love it even more!
I attached a U-shaped cupboard door handle upside down to the bottom of my nightstand, and hang my glasses from it. Of course, I have glasses with the curled wire earpieces, the other sort wouldn't work that way, but it does save space on my little nightstand-shelf
I showed my eight-year-old the Ernie and asked if she'd dig going to the thrift store and finding a doll head or stuffed animal (with a nose!) and knock their noggin off, put a weight at the base, sew it up and use it to store her glasses. She was totally into the idea. Hopefully we can avoid making a decapitated doll/stuffed head look creepy. haha
Those are all soo cute! I use this glasses holder at work that I got at Ten Thousand Villages - http://www.tenthousandvillages.com/catalog/product.detail.php?product_id=7600
Hubby and I recently got a new platform bed, with built in tables on either side. The bed is black, the spread is tuquoise, and I placed two different vintage red lacquer trays on each side for our glasses. I think it's really pretty.
I'd rather spend money on nice glasses than a specialized holder. Mine go in the (free) case they came in. Protected from dust.
I absolutely ADORE the owl at the top. Any idea where I can find one?
I made that ernie!

These look cool, though I'll stick with just laying mine on the nightstand - not really worth the money since if people are here to see it, I'm also going to be wearing my glasses.
A few months ago I switched our night stands to small square floating shelves. They collect less clutter now.
Unfortunately this leaves me with no place for my 5 pairs of glasses (hey, some women have this problem with shoes...). I'm looking for something on which to display 5 pairs. Some of my cases are broken but mostly I'd like to be able to just hang them up at night and be able to grab them when I need to run out the door - I have an early start time for work.
I'm going to explore the Lee Valley I live close to for cabinet hardware that might do the trick or maybe just use some wire to string up some sort of line.
The point is to save some room on my now-almost-nonexistent nightstand - as super cute as that Ernie is.
