A great budget kitchen makeover that you can actually imagine living with for more than a few months is hard to find. Sometimes the budget means you cut corners, use cheap disposable solutions and do things to get by until the budget gets bigger. This kitchen does just the opposite with a few beautiful and lasting solutions.

An Urban Cottage describes this kitchen's journey:
The kitchen has gone through a few different stages. This is what it looked like when I bought the house, the scrambled eggs and band-aids color combo. It's been painted a few times including the hideous tile that was primed and painted BM Decorator's White.
With a calm color palette and simple solutions this kitchen makes the most of a small budget in a lasting way!

Wow! That is fantastic! Gives me renewed hope for my small kitchen and a small reno budget!
"Scrambled eggs and band-aids." Very amusing! :)
Is that a shower on the left in the first photo?!?!?
Beautiful make over, where's the island from??
Looks really great. Hopefully can do the same with my first kitchen!
Incredible transformation! Impressive.
seems to me like this isn't *that* much more than a paint job, a table and taking the photo from a different angle so the fridge doesn't show. kinda bugs me when before and after pictures are also crappy picture/good picture.
What a great upgrade - nice job!

Whoa! Well done!!!
@redbegonia, if you look closer, and/or check out the link you'll see it is indeed more than a paint job & a new angle. There are new walls involved, shelves, cabinetry, window treatments, & lots of fantastic accessories. Certainly true that the paint job removes emphasis from some elements & adds it to better ones - I think it's nicely done.
Not every re-do is (nor should be) a complete & total gutting of a space. Working with what's there is practical & for the greater good.
The look is very much a transformation, from not so pleasing, to (in my opinion) very pleasing. Well done!
fantastic! i love it!
LOVE! :)
@Wildlysimple, I totally agree with you that often the best remodeling we can do is simple. The more total gut jobs we can avoid, the better off we all are. I love your kitchen. It wouldn't be anything I would ever desing from scratch, but you did a great job making a pitiful little kitchen much more pleasant and usable.
