$125 isn't a lot of money when we're talking about a kitchen renovation. You have to be smart about where you spend and how you implement changes. While this renovation isn't completely done, it has made a dramatic impact that is worth checking out.
By painting over some pretty dramatic mushroom clouds of grease and putting up some open shelving the folks over at The Mother Blog are well on their way to having a great kitchen.
Embracing the lovely knotty pine lower cabinetry was definitely a great choice - we can't wait to see what they will do next. From what we gather sounds like tile and another attempt at paint are in the works.
For only $125 this quick makeover has made an incredible impact on the space!
Check it out and follow their progress over at The Mother Blog.

White Enamel Four-P...
so simple but what an impact!!
Incredible work!
beautiful!
To beautify, stand decorative plates and glasses vertically on open shelving.
Try mug hooks beneath the lowest shelf.
Add windows across the entire kitchen counter.
Move the dish shelves to the left of the sink.
For extra counter space, try a large cutting board over a sink or stove.
Store an eating/cooking utensil basket on a deep window sill.
Baskets are portable.
Dry wet kitchen towels on hooks under the kitchen sink.
Try an herb garden in a deep window sill.
Try a small knick knack shelf above a window or door.
Spacious!
$125 renos are my kind of renos!
ditto what slackerjo said!
It's amazing how the wood door and wood window frame now stand out in a nice way. Before, they just contributed to the overall feel of a dated, overly pine-y kitchen.

The final details are on hold as both my husband and I rehearse a show. But I hope you'll come back and see more as we move along!
