We got a long distance email from Laura in Amsterdam this morning: When we bought our house about two years ago we fixed the place up quite a bit. After we got settled in, my fiancé and I started looking for a headboard that suited our small bedroom. Since we couldn't find anything we liked, we decided to make our own.

Using inspiration from a vintage ticket stub, we designed this decal. We had it printed as a large black and a red wall sticker, which we cut in approx. 20 pieces and applied to the wall. We used some dates and numbers that mean something to us (including our anniversary date) to make it even more personal.
The chair we use as a night stand is a recent thrift store find and the bedspread a vintage piece from Lady Day in Amsterdam.
A totally memorable and personal use of custom stickers to define a small space - thanks, Laura!

Shaw's Original Fir...
This is great! :)
Holy moly! That would drive me crazy in a bedroom, but I love how personal this is. As a Cornellian, I definitely appreciate the sentiment. Go Big Red! Don't you worry about the vinyl peeling from people sitting up in bed?
wow! that gives me the idea i've been looking for in our bedroom. where did you get the decal printed though?
I love that!
So fabulous.
Very cool idea, and I think a that's a great way for sports fans to get their fix without it being a "team" room.
<BUCKEYES> :)
Wow, the before paint job was really bad. I love the bold graphic, well done.
I absolutely love this!
amazing!! you would think size of it would be overwhelming but not at all..one day when I have a little boy his headboard will be the same; except it would be a celtics vs lakers game. - of course the celtics win ;)
Too cool for school.
Fantastic! Go Bucks!
Great idea!!
Oh man, that would be such a good idea for a boy's bedroom.
definitely goes into my folder for great ideas
this is perfect for my boys' room!!
Heck, yeah. Great work.
Honestly I prefer the paint job in the "before" pic.
Texture, color and strength.
This is super fun!
Wow! That is a really great idea!
Rockabilly! Love it.
What a great idea! Beautiful execution....LOVE IT!
Love it!
I probably only mainly love the sentiment because it's executed to flawlessly. Would love to see a different bedspread.
By the way, although I don't love the "before" more than the "after", I think the before is kind of nice, too, in a completely different gear.
I'm not into sports at all but good job. I'm just loling that someone said they like the before. Its like a guarantee someone says that no matter how bad it is.
Wow! The custom wall decal inspired by a vintage ticket stub is such an original and fabulous idea! Wonderful execution, too! Good job, guys!

So cool!!
Not for me but it's very cool and very nicely done!
Not my taste, but I forwarded this to my aunt, who was a Cornell professor for about 40 years, and she loved it. Nicely done work, even if it isn't my cup of tea.
that wasn't what i was expecting, haha! i too kind had a thing for the before image, but i think i can get on board with the after as well.
that's amazing! this would also be perfect in a basement or "game room" maybe with a couple bleacher seats nearby. great work!
so great! really do love the contrast between the graphic decal and the softly sweet bedding. very nice way to do vintage without sticking to one style. wish we could see more of the room!
Very stylish, and beautifully proportioned for the room.
GO BIG RED! Booya!
Oh yeah, and that looks great! Trust me, I'm a (cornell) architect. :)
That is fab. You should be really proud of your selves from design to execution.
*Applause*
this is awesome.
i like the idea of doing something like this for a kid's room with the date/time they were born.
very well done!
That's great, but Nov. 8 was not a Saturday in 1978. Put a '1' before the '8' and you're on to something.
maybe the ticket was misprinted too
It's just wonderful.
Maybe they changed that the aforementioned anniversary date and / or other significant numbers? (And wanted to avoid the more obvious incorrectness of "having the game" on a Wednesday.)
Maybe they changed that because of the aforementioned anniversary date, I wanted to write. Forgot the "because of", sorry.
I love this Idea!!! Does anyone know where I can get a custom made wall decal on clear vinyl. I have contacted numerous companies online that can do a customized removable decal but on a white background. I really want to wall to show through on my design. Anyone know any companies that can do one that is 4ft x 5ft? Thanak you :-)
The cool thing about this is that you can really personalize by using a type of ticket depending on your interests. Like a rock concert, and art show, a classical music concert, a movie etc. Cool idea!
Wow, surprisingly I love this...but then again, I'm a Cornellian ;)
THIS IS THE FREAKING COOLEST THING EVER! And I'm NOT a sports fan but love it.
People actually liked the befor? I thought it was vandalized! :o0
