If you haven't already noticed, we're all about color this month on Apartment Therapy! One of my favorite ways to celebrate color is a good before and after — and this one does not disappoint. Check out how this living room moves from beigeville to a lively, energized space that isn't too over the top.

Designer Kirsten Krason from 6th Street Design School helped take her client Candace's room out of the neutral zone. She painted the walls a vivid blue, added some colorful rugs, curtains, and pillows, and helped her client fill an otherwise awkward empty space.

Probably my favorite thing about this redo is the fact that Kirsten was able to use so many things of Candace's in the final room — it's a great reminder of how you can use what you have and build from there!

Shaw's Original Fir...
I remember a previous post on the same room... most people were wondering about the sofa and if it was either reupholstered or if it was just lighting since it wasn't taken from the same angle... I'd love to know! :)
It definitely just looks like different lighting to me, the actually color/fabric on the sofa doesn't seem to change after the redo.
Much better! The blue makes everything pop.
Aww..I hate it when I like the before better.
Nice job! I like the subtle color change!
Stunning! The after is far better than the before picture. Everything came to life...the before pic is very drab. I'd love to know that color blue use? It's very pretty. With the red and yellow accents, you got perfection. This has to be my most favorite 'After' in a long time. Great job!
I think adding the curtains and curtain rods did more than changing the color. Very nice! (Nice sofa)
I like it better when before-and-after pictures are taken in the same angle and lighting.
I've been coveting that Crate & Barrel coffee table for the longest!
I think the curtains look strange, like there need to be more panels. I like the blue though.
why is the wreath still in the "after"?
I'm feeling that the fireplace and bookcases need a little something curvacious. That rectangle mirror just adds to the overall cubistic feeling going on in that vignette. Maybe an oval mirror or a painting that isn't so, well, square feeling.
That's the Dylan Sofa which WAS available from Safavieh. It looks like the original upholstery in both pictures.

Love it! The blue transforms that room. The only thing I dont like are those cheesy gold stool things, other than that, its all good.
You don't like the moroccan poufs? Blasphemy! Trendy interior design mandates the loving of the moroccan pouf.
This room was certainly taken from clinical, depressingly drab to bright and welcoming. That's very much a living room I could make myself at home in. Lovely job.
I like the before and after....either way...good job!
I love the neural striped rug, with the bold colors and prints on the drapery and pillows. I have used the same drapery fabric for a Room Re-do at my mom's house. Love the energy
What happened to all the funny comments about the giant clock? C'mon AT, that was fair game!
(It actually scares me how much censorship is on this site.)
Stellar job on the after. The color makes the room be alive and inviting.
