Designer Gina De Pasquale renovated this Las Vegas residence that needed a little updating throughout. Her work is most impressive in the bathroom where she did a great a job of mixing high and low pieces, all while staying true to the mid-century aesthetic.

De Pasquale highlighted the back feature wall with beautiful blue tile from Heath Ceramics, stating, "It's important to invest in things that make up the guts and roots of your home — structural stuff like the tile, the plumbing, and the flooring. Save on the things you can swap out more easily." This tiled wall took up most of her budget, but she was able to save by smartly using Ikea cabinetry with custom veneers, brushed metal hardware and fixtures from Lowes, and a quartz CaesarStone remnant for the countertop.

White Enamel Flatwa...
A stunner!
I love it!!
Gorgeous.
WOW! That tile is amazing. Where did you get it?
Is that carpet in the before? Who thinks wall to wall carpeting in a bathroom is a good idea? The mold! Much improved. Great work incorporating the old wood detail with the new cabinets. Very very nice.
Everything is perfect. It's amazing how uniformly blah it was, and thoroughly balanced and fresh-yet-retro it is now.
That tile is gorgeous!! But $77/sq ft!?!?!?! Ridiculous!
I thought the before was perfectly okay then I saw the bathroom. BAHZINGA! WOW!
LOVELY!
I love love love that blue tile!!!
LOVE that tile. Into the inspiration file....
I'd love to see the rest of the house! Dream tiles...
really nice job!
I'm a preservation freak......in my eyes, the before pic is nicer.
This renovation is beautiful. I agree with most of the commenters in that this tile is gorgeous and is in fact one of my favorites. @pyrexmaniac, Heath ceramics was a typical supplier in the fifties and sixties and is this not incorrect for this application.
The before was actually really nice but the after is phenomenal. Like everyone else I'm in love with the blue tile.
the tile makes the space. without it...it would just look cookie-cutter. great find!
beautiful! i kind of liked the lines of the "before" counter, but the new look is cohesive anyway.
I'm usually not a big fan of these bold patterns on the walls but this ties quite nicely with the white floors and the color of the vanity cabinets. Good Job
Stunning!
That is simply gorgeous. I would be very interesting in knowing the overall budget, as well as a basic breakdown of individual costs.
I love the tile. Alas, in my cold climate it would turn the bathroom into an icebox.
Kah Pow! You knocked this remodel out of the park.
Beautiful tile selection.
Loving all choices re pendant lamp, bathtub, re-shape of countertop as well.
Can't tell from before pic if windows were there or not - awesome now.
Looks like you took down the color of the wood beams a notch - more of a golden wheat and it works well with the blue.
Winning job all around.
That tile is amazing! But oh so pricy...
YES!!!! FULL OF WIN!!!!
I wonder who thought the beige and gray of the original bathroom was a good idea?
Lorint: Wall to wall carpeting in bathrooms is definitely weird, but I've been in at least a few homes that had them (mostly in the UK), and it doesn't actually grow mold. It's definitely a strangely surreal feeling to come out of the bath/be on the toilet and have your feet on carpet, but other than it just being totally not something most people are used to, there isn't really anything wrong with it (at least, not anything more than usual, since it is carpet and full carpeting is pretty much always horrible).
all I can say is: wow!!!
I also vote for the before - there are so many things to re-do in this world, this doesn't seem one of them.
Oh, the tile! The tile!
This before was outdated. We're not living in the 1950s or early 60s and this re-do does more than reference the original style. I can't really understand the mentality of those who feel like it needed to be preserved as it was; if you want to live in a museum, fair enough.
But this was an update that really kept in mind the heritage of the house and room. I can't see any MCM fans being upset by it, unless they are too literal to see recognize good design when they see it, sorry.
This is lovely. It must be so nice to see in the morning and the evening every day. That color of blue is very special. Thank you for sharing!
Clearly the biggest improvement BY FAR was adding floor to ceiling windows near the tub, which doesn't get any mention in the story. What's up with that?
To the preservation freaks --
The "before" is a 20 year old remodel, and not worth saving. The original bathroom would have been quite different. Not the vanity, sink, taps, light or even the tile were original to the house...
By installing Heath tile, the designer has made the bathroom more respectful and sympathetic to the original style, and much more save-worthy, even though it is a remodel from a different era.
Parnassus -- I believe the windows are in the "before" picture, but are covered with sheers. What is confusing is the door to the outside, which looks to have been a wood door instead of a glass slider.
Looking through the other photos, the shower doesn't appear to have anything encasing it- glass or otherwise. I'm intrigued by this idea and been toying with the idea of doing something similar (curbless open), but wonder if it gets chilly. Thoughts?
Very well done.
Uhm... why is this categorized in Budget Living? I suppose just having a budget can mean anything... "I have a LARGE budget" or "I have a SMALL budget". Perhaps you might introduce a category for the "Living paycheck to paycheck" set.
A lovely transformation and yes, I too love the blue wall tile. Does anyone know where I can get them?
Really great work, smart choices.
The tile really makes it pop.
@Sandyflew--- YES!!! I couldn't agree more. This room is gorgeous, but the term "budget living" to me seems like it should be more about being on a "regular folk" budget!
wow... this is fantastic! that blue tile and omg that tub!!
