Reading in bed is one of my all-time favorite pastimes, but since I've switched to an eReader, I don't get the same romantic experience I did in the old-fashioned hard cover days. This DIY headboard could bring back the feeling, even if I'm not scanning the pages.
The bloggers over at Recyclart wanted to create a headboard that captured a love of reading. With some thrift store books and a plywood base, they achieved these incredible results.
Book Lovers: Don't flinch when I tell you this, but they simply nailed each side of the open books to the board and used double sided tape on the paper to keep the pages from curling up.
Would you be brave enough to do this to your favorite classics to get this interesting headboard?

DO NOT smoke in bed.
Creative way to cover empty space economically. And i like the variation of brown caused my the aging of the pages. There's a disconnect for me between the romance of paging through a book and nailing the books up to the wall. But I never understood the urge to put an "occupied" crucifix on the wall, either.
Oh, and I'd like to know how the bottom row of pages stands up to the shifting of pillows. And, for that matter, sex.
Oh my... I nearly fell from my chair... No, I could not have done that, I am an old fashion book lover... :P
no....sorry.
I am on the fence with this one,I like it kinda ,but on other hand...... I can't see how it will stand up to the test of time.
It's beautiful! BUT, I think a huge piece of plexi-glass on either side of the books would be perfect. Maybe the pieces could be bolted together....I don't know. Glued maybe.... IDK. :)
Yikes! As a book lover Im offended, but as a design amateur Im sorta intrigued.I couldnt do it myself.
That would be better if was a wall tratment, not a headboard. It is pretty cool looking, I like it.
i think its an innovative idea and i am guessing the page on each book has some importance to the home owners. If i were to use this idea, I would probably photocopy and frame the pages.
Hmmmm......
