We love a good Before & After here at Apartment Therapy, especially one that's achieved on a shoestring budget. In its before state, this little powder room couldn't be more boring, from dingy white walls to builder-grade oak cabinet. HGTV Design Star alum NataLee Callahan gave it a major makeover on a budget of less than $100.

NataLee started by adding beadboard wallpaper — which is really inexpensive and available at most hardware stores — below the existing chair rail. Next, she painted large chocolate brown stripes above the beadboard, and swapped out the standard flat mirror for a cool circular one she scored for $7 at a swap meet. Finally, she painted the vanity and mirror green and accented another wall in eye-popping turquoise.

Put a smile on my face! Love it!
Wow, total transformation and fantastic result
Hey, what shade of Green is that?
Verdant green.
Verdant means green. So you painted it a green green.
Lovely! It went from bland to bold!
Looks pretty green green to me!
excellent
Hi! This is NataLee from www.designedtothenines.com. Thanks for all the love. In answer to the color of green question. I actually did a color match of the infamous Ikea office storage boxes... and yes, it's a Kermit the Frog green. =)
So cute!!!! Love the owl.
I'm sorry, N, but next year this is going to looked dated. I like the green (green) but the horizontal stripes have been on every design website, and are about to die the death.
No worries, U,... this design isn't for everyone and I wasn't really going for timeless. And next year if it's dated or I'm tired of it... I'll just redo it because that's how I roll! =)
Please! Stripes will always be in style. She might tire of this look after living with it for a while (and as she stated, she can easily do something else then) but to act as though stripes are a just a fad seems ridiculous. I think it's a fun room and she made a great impact with a small budget.
Wow... chocolate brown, turquoise and olive green. That's quite a fashion forward combination.
I'm sorry, but I can only assume that either a) the photos are misrepresenting the actual tones or b) you don't want guests hanging around in your powder room too long.
Only $100?!...NataLee, you ROCK girl! Two thumbs up! Cheers
Love the green, but the stripes are too bold for me. We also have a builder-installed oak sink cabinet. And it's quite ugly. Maybe I should also paint ours!
WONDERFUL! Love the color combo, the stripes might make me a little dizzy but I think you were very creative. :) You did an awesome job.
love it - powder rooms are just the place to be bold, bombastic and evocative. round mirrors rock as well - everyone looks better in them.
ha! I love it!! Tiny bathrooms are a great place to be wacky and bold with designs that would be overwhelming in larger rooms.
like vintagejenta, my cabinet is the same and though I'd toyed with painting it white instead of replacing it, a bright color is so much more tempting now
