Architect Alexandria Barker began with this dark and dated pre-war apartment and transformed it into an open, loft-like space with modern detailing. Want to see it now?
She lightened up the living and dining area by removing partitions throughout much of the space to let in the sun. To encourage flow, she replaced low doorways with 8 ft panel doors. Finally, she switched out the wooden hearth with a new Calacatta marble fireplace to create a sleek and bright focal point for the room.
