If you saw this chair in a thrift store would you jump at the chance to give it a new life or is it in such disrepair that you would just have to pass it by? Well, Irina wanted to take on the challenge and had an incredible vision for this lucky little piece. After a month of dedication and a lot of love this dilapidated chair has been transformed into a stunning work of art.

After deconstructing the chair, refinishing the wood and reinforcing the joints Irina was ready to begin on the upholstery. She had sketched out the design for the finished piece and once her fabric arrived she was ready to begin on the embroidery and fabric collage.
When she was nearing the end of her project and all the individual components were ready to go the only parts she had left on her list was to re-upholster the chair, put on the legs, sit back and revel in the fabulous new chair she created.

Shaw's Original Fir...
A-dor-a-ble!!!
Lovely! The fabric collage really makes it. But I would paint the bolts on the side of the chair.
She put a bird on it! :-)
Actually, this is a beautiful chair now. Congrats!
WOW! Now THAT is a before and after! Great job!
Oh, this is the coolest reupholstering project I've seen in a long time!
Nice! I wouldn't have "put a bird on it" but still really nice.
This is an insanely awesome before/after.
The "Portlandia" reference cracked me up.
The bird design is a nice homage to the original racing stripe!
That's wonderful!! And yes, 'sad' was the perfect description for the before. Well done!
The wood looks so much better. I am impressed with your skills. I never tire of seeing these furniture redos. Thanks for the entertainment factor.
that looks fantastic!!! inspiring!
Amazing!
LOVE IT!
I would have walked right past that "before" chair. Kudo's for seeing the potential and making the beautiful "after."
This is the BEST before/after I have ever seen on AT. Congratulations - guts, style, and how-to skills - you are amazing!
It looks amazing!! Fantastic job!
I feel like I saw this aaaaaaaages ago on some other website. Like BEFORE the Put a Bird On It movement, or at least at the beginning of it. So she gets a pass. I do like the before fabric like @eclecticds.com. Luz at the "farts" too.
Not keen on the bird, but the renovation of that formerly tragic chair is remarkable. Great job, it looks wonderful!
Ah, I LIKE the bird. That's what makes this chair different from all the other MC/Danish chairs with tasteful hip grey upolstery on AT.
That looks soooo much like a chair I had in my room as a kid – and my parents had bought it in a crappy state and reupholstered it, just like this. Resourceful. :)
I love it.
Someone actually refinished vintage wood instead of painting or collage-ing it? And nobody's hating on it? Be still my heart!
Seriously, though, it's adorable. Great job!
Lovely!
Stunning. Great Job!! The wood looks super gorgeous!!
fantastic!
This is beautiful and one of the few times I wish this was sold in stores because I can't upholster. :( I would snatch this chair up in a heartbeat.
This is one of the best Before and After projects I have seen in a long time...
What a lovely job! You totally rescued this sweet chair and brought out it's hidden beauty. Isn't it satisfying to transform something so completely? Inspiring!
The embroidery is stunning and the colour is so calming! A great chair to sit and read in!
wow, absolutely fabulous !
Wow, SUPER cute. Perfect blend of fabric for this chair. Very well done.
Oh, I gasped a little when I saw the after. SO cute. I looove it!
THE BEST before and after on AT!
I thought it would be neat if the original fabric could be salvaged 'cause it's pretty cool-kinda retro...then I saw the after. **SIGH*** S A W E E T!
