Before & After: A Shared Parisian Bedroom Gets a Sophisticated Makeover
Two sisters in Paris used to share this space and it is a pretty cute “before” space. The little house bed was a DIY project and the prevalence of pink was offset by the white walls and sunlight. With the youngest sister out of a crib, it was time to redesign and, just their luck, their aunt is super style savvy and loves to take on decorating projects. With paint, wallpaper and several re-imagined thrift store purchases, she turned their new room into a soft, elegant haven.
Their aunt, Nadia, introduced a minty green as a complimentary color, using it in a floral wallpaper and painted walls. She found similar, but not matching peacock headboards and painted them pink and added lovely little feminine touches around the room. Nadia describes the project:
This bedroom belongs to two girls ages 7 and 3 ½ years. This project was dear to me as these two little angels are not only my nieces, but they were also highly demanding “customers”. I wanted to satisfy them enough to see sparkles in their pretty eyes. I had to completely redecorate the bedroom because my nieces grew up so now they needed to have two single beds. The oldest one slept in the house bed that I had made for her 4 years ago, and which is now too small for her. The youngest slept in the baby bed which was also too small for her so she needed a true bed.
This room is very small and I first thought of bunk beds so as not to occupy the entire floor space with beds. But my nieces only asked me two things: no bunk beds! As they wanted to have twin beds to be next to each other (too cute!) And flowers and pink of course! My sister is only renting so no major work for this room but a decor on small budget. So here is the room I imagined for them.
