Architect: Matthew Hofmann of Hofmann Architecture
Client: self
Location: Roaming Free in Southern California!
This 1978 Airstream was completely renovated by Architect Matthew Hofmann. Acquired in April 2010, the new contemporary interior features bamboo countertops, a dining area that converts to a guest bed, a fully integrated home office and the most luxurious bathroom on wheels I've ever seen!
A practicing architect in Santa Barbara, California, I recently completed a contemporary renovation of a vintage 1970's Airstream trailer mobile live + work studio — a small, very efficient space. My girlfriend and I call the Airstream home, now parked on a beautiful California view property on the Southern Coast. Green thinking heavily influenced this project: recycled and sustainable materials.
Thanks Matthew!

:-O That is absolutely beautiful! Great work!
Wow. Absolutely beautiful!
Makes me super-jealous. The only Airstream dealer here in Minnesota closed a few years ago.
If I could find an older one of these, I'd love to get one for camping. One of the little Scamps.
And then use it as an out-building once I have a home.
:D
Holy Crap! Beautiful!
Awesome!
Stellar!
Love the loo with a view!
Wow! Gorgeous!
OMG this is the most beautiful trailer I have every seen! Makes me want to live in one!!!
That Matthew Hofmann isn't too bad on the eyes either
oh my goodness! what an amazing transformation. Mega brownie points for the Magritte print!
Wow! That before was a disaster! I love how light and airy it looks now - not at all dark or cramped. Great job! I want one!
Gorgeous! Oh, and the Airstream is awesome too!
Awesome! Makes me wish I had a camper.
Double sexy :) I would live with him in this :P
It is beautiful and love all the light in the after pics.
Thank you for the before and after in a sequence that makes sense to me.....not all of them do.
Lucky girlfriend!
Gorgeous.
The whole thing is superb, but that bathroom is to die for.
Even I would be willing to go camping in this.
Beautiful! Nice work.
Gorgeous!
I would take Matthew and his airstream. Both of which are HOT!
I always wanted an Airstream. This is just the way I would renovate. Great job.
That's probably Matthew's craftsmen in the pic taking his break from installing the tile in the bathroom.
I'd like to trade in my husband and kids for a year on the road in a sweet airstream. can anyone help me arrange this? great work!
All I can say is wow!
stunning! It's been my lifelong dream to renovate a vintage 70s airstream. When insomniac, I regularly troll craiglist ads for one, but it's just not in my budget right now. This is one of the nicest I've ever seen!
Amazing before and after. Makes me want to move to CA and live in a airstream.
I'm bookmarking this for when we hopefully have an Airstream one day. That bathroom is amazing.
This is amazing! I have 1970's Airstream Sovereign (31') and have always dreamed of doing a reno on it. What was the budget for this project? I might have to start saving!
Golly, I think they have a nicer, bigger kitchen than I have in my apartment.
Kaete, don't fall for the wide angle lens! But it is gorgeous!
Man and trailer are gorgeous! Are either for sale?
:)
So gorgeous, and oh so jealous.
awesome job! how big is the airstream?
wwow...
Great work! Loved the spacious bathroom.
Said it before, I'll say it again...
Best bath I have ever seen in an RV.
Eep! I just screeched when I saw this! I'm so jealous! Can I have one? Or ten?! My dream is to move my happy little self into one of these and run my etsy shop from the road, and blog all of the exciting process!
Very nice indeed. Anybody know the make or model of the Imac stand?
Gorgeous...to both the Airstream and dude. :)
I would totally be happy living in this. OMG! I love it. *wants a airstream*
wow.never seen anything like this. would def take a road trip in this!
This is the mother of all airstreams. I've looked at new ones - but definitely better than new here.
Holla!
That's pretty cool!
