Here's a classic rental situation: Katie's apartment had shelving on each side of her fireplace in the living room. And yes, although she's lucky to have that fireplace, the shelves themselves were rather boring to behold. What's a renter to do? See what Katie figured out...
Her solution was to put bright, colorful patterned fabric behind every shelf, and it's a huge difference! If you'd like to do this yourself, simply choose a few fabrics that you think look good together. Cut the pieces of fabric to size, and adhere them to the wall. The easiest way Katie found to do this was by using finishing nails on each fabric sheet. They’re so small they blend in with the pattern, and they are a temporary solution in her rental.
From Katie: This DIY fabric accent wall was just what the bare, boring shelves in our living room needed, and the contrasting patterns have just made the room pop completely.
