Today's great room transformation comes via the blog Fargebarn. This Norwegian mom went a totally different route, trading in her son's seriously blue room for a totally new look for her youngest daughter. See what she chose instead...

Bright blue gives way to pale pastels and spare furnishings in this delicate and beautiful room. What a difference!

Anybody know what that egg chair with the canopy is? I want one!
Beautiful! So light and bright.
I have always LOVED that style crib (dollbed). Does anyone know if it is available in the U.S. as well in the actual kids size?
the egg chair and canopy thing is from IKEA. last time I saw one in the store it was about 87 bucks? Look in the kids dept. for it
Same, who makes that doll bed?
i like before much more
While I liked the before, that jarring color would get on my nerves after awhile. The after is lovely and so calming.
What a transformation!
I love that doll crib! I'd like to know who makes that. Three days after we bought our new house, our neighbor had her (apparently annual) "everything's a dollar" rummage sale and I got one of those IKEA egg chairs for a buck!
I also like the before but my kids have a room like that and it's not as nice to live in that kind of color day by day.
I absolutely ADORE the wall paper from the second room. If only I didn't dread using wallpaper. You'll note if you visit her blog, that the author hasn't finished the room yet. Hope she posts back again when it's complete, though I love it just as it is!
Cherub, what makes you think she didn't finish the room? I think she was just using one wallpaper accent wall. But I can't read swedish, so maybe I'm wrong?
I love the first room better anyway.
I think that whether a saturated color like that blue "works" in a given room has a lot to do with the kind of light the room receives and not just whether you like the color itself. Based on the pictures, I think the blue is too much for that particular space and light, but maybe that's just me...
I must say- the before looked pretty nice, but the after is obviously stunning.
It is from Ikea.
Does anyone know where one can find that magazine rack/book shelf?
Zachs- if you translate her blog, which is in Swedish, she mentions that she has not completed the room yet and is still going to put some stuff on the walls. I love the room and don't think it looks incomplete but would like to see it after it is complete as well.
I find the bright blue hue from the first picture to be too overpowering.
The language is Norwegian, not Swedish and she is just waiting on some pictures she has ordered for the walls and she thinks there are a few small details to add, change before she is completely happy.
Yep, cute chair!

Looked better before, in my opinion.
