Ick. Even for the most intrepid DIY folks, this old metal cabinet is daunting. It is rusty, peeling, and no doubt has some sharp edges on it somewhere. Along came Graham who saw potential in the project, and set to work transforming it.

Here it is, in all its final glory. The original stripped hardware and a retro-style label are the perfect finishing touches. If you're interested, here's how Graham did it:

He first removed all the hardware and bolts from the cabinet, which he stripped and polished. Then, he stripped all the old enamel away using a combination of paint stripper, wire brush scrapers and an orbital sander.

Once the cabinet was entirely stripped, he cleaned off any residue and taped off the glass. Next came two coats of primer, with drying time between each coat. Lastly, he spray painted the cabinet with 2-3 light coats and let it dry for two days.

Many thanks to Krista Winters for sharing Graham's success!
